DanTheFox07 Posted 7 March 2012 Posted 7 March 2012 Season's over. Quote me, If we make the top 6 I'll post up a pic of my balls. Someone who agree`s with me thank you! I don`t take any pleasure in saying this, yes I know it is still possible point`s wise! I just don`t think we deliver the result`s!
Daggers Posted 7 March 2012 Posted 7 March 2012 I know that anything is possible while the mathematics allow it. It's possible that you will win the Euromillions this weekend if you buy a ticket - 1 in 116,531,800 in fact. But, with odds of 576000 to 1, it's 202 times more likely you'll be hit by lightning. Just because something has a ridiculously remote mathematical chance of happening doesn't mean it will - otherwise there would be a lot of bust bookies. There's a reason you can get 12 to 1 on us now - it's because it's getting as likely as me bedding the entire female contingent of Take Me Out.
Daggers Posted 7 March 2012 Posted 7 March 2012 ...and I call dibs on Gracie if there's more than one bloke involved.
purpleronnie Posted 7 March 2012 Posted 7 March 2012 The fact I predicted 8th at the start makes me a friggin genius...or a negative nelly. Side note: I reckon even if we were bottom of the league some fans will still believe we'd make the playoffs.
Guy Posted 7 March 2012 Posted 7 March 2012 I know it's a bit "Lawrence Logic" like to say this but we'll only know by mid April whether or not the season's over....as regards our league position cvome then and what's happened in the FA Cup. I know the purpose of such threads as this is to create discussion about the possibilities of going up or staying put but they are really just speculative by nature and ultimately pretty pointless! Nigel Pearson would probably echo my sentiments there - as much as I bet he wasn't impressed by his team yesterday at Bristol. As I've said elsewhere on another thread, we were stranded in 11th place at the end of March during M.O'Neill's early tenure in 1996 yet then we won seven from our final eight games I think (only losing 1-2 v WBA at home). I'm not 100% sure on how our points tally stacked up and the amount of games we had left to play back then but I remember all the "O'Neill out" chants going on and that group staging some kind of "sit in" protest after that infamous Sheffield United defeat at Filbo. It's not even anything like as unlikely now as it was back then that we'd gain promotion (that we ultimately would go on to do of course as anybody over the age of 30 will vividly recall!), I think it is more to do with the fact that the expectation is so much higher now in general terms in football than it was in 1996 - not helped in our modern day case by the amount of money that's been spent on the team.

p_kam Posted 7 March 2012 Posted 7 March 2012 live in hope that we can still make play-offs, even though the chances are slim. Even if we don't make the play offs let's just enjoy what is left of the season and place our hopes for next season.
MANFACE Posted 7 March 2012 Posted 7 March 2012 Just knew we'd lose to a shit team...just knew it. Glad we have to play 6 of the teams above us, we will those for sure. So, yeah we can still make the play-offs.
Stay Positive Posted 8 March 2012 Posted 8 March 2012 I think we'll lose 2-0 to Reading and be humiliated by Chelsea. Then our season will be well and truly over. On a more positive note, I can see us getting automatic promotion next season.
