Greg2607 Posted 22 March 2012 Posted 22 March 2012 Hey Guys, Thought i'd stick a note on here just in case anyone is interested. I play for a local cricket team in the Everards league and we are in need of new players for the upcoming season. In short, without some new "talent" we will need to fold as a club as a number of our players have been poached to higher divisions due to our success last year. Is anyone here looking for a new club? or maybe interested in dusting off the whites and getting back into the game? If so, please drop me a note through and I can give you more details. Thanks again, Greg.
NeilyBoy Posted 22 March 2012 Posted 22 March 2012 There's one on Nightingale Road in Farncombe which I used to live just opposite to: Great burgers.
Greg2607 Posted 22 March 2012 Author Posted 22 March 2012 Forgot to mention. This is Leicestershire based. Market Bosworth to be precise!
FoxesAreBlue Posted 23 March 2012 Posted 23 March 2012 How much? Haven't played since I was a kid tho and god knows my eyes ain't what they were!
ozleicester Posted 23 March 2012 Posted 23 March 2012 I assumed this was an email from the MCC? They should never have allowed that 20/20 business to start
Greg2607 Posted 23 March 2012 Author Posted 23 March 2012 Well to be honest, we need people who are keen to play, we have never been "elitist" as it were. So anyone willing and wanting to get involved and play on a regular basis is welcome. we have a nets session at bosworth college on Monday night (20:00) so you are more than welcome to come along and get a feel for it all!
General Smuts Posted 23 March 2012 Posted 23 March 2012 I played a couple of times last season in a posho league in Herts. Borrowed whites and a hangover whilst drinking on the boundary. The poshos loved it. Its so posh in fact that David Beckham drinks regularly in the pub opposite the club house. A pint in there is a fiver. Only went to help out the brother in law and make up the numbers. I'm beyond appalling at cricket. Luckily the rest of the team are quite good. So good in fact that they even let me bowl 3 overs against 1 team. Took a wicket on my first (legal) ball and bowled at least 30 balls to get 18 legal ones.
Milky Posted 23 March 2012 Posted 23 March 2012 I used to play for Market Bosworth, but couldn't stand the Cvnts any longer. Not suprised they're struggling for players.
Greg2607 Posted 23 March 2012 Author Posted 23 March 2012 It's those lads that have left to be fair. it's back to the "original" lads that have all played there since we were 10 years old.
Milky Posted 23 March 2012 Posted 23 March 2012 I started playing for bosworth when I was six years old
Greg2607 Posted 24 March 2012 Author Posted 24 March 2012 Good lad, might as well come back then! How many years ago was that? Who was your coach at the time??
RonnieTodger Posted 24 March 2012 Posted 24 March 2012 I've never played for a proper team but I've always been a handy wicket-keeper on the park so I was considering going to one of them training day things and seeing if I was any good in the nets.
Greg2607 Posted 24 March 2012 Author Posted 24 March 2012 Well you're welcome to come along. We have our last nets session on Monday night at 20:00. if we don't have a good enough turn old the club will be folding. so as said above, the more the merrier! . by the sounds of it, the above scenario would make milky a happy boy!!! .
