  1. I suspect in previous years we had an arrogance that we could carry the wage due to us being a "big club".... turns out in League One, that really isn't the case. The move to action must surely be about trimming as much cost as possible out of the business.
  2. i also guess it depends what his mandate has been. it MIGHT have been... there is no budget, we will sell what we can, but that money has to go towards operating costs. YOUR job Mr Martin is to bring through to talent that we have in the squad. That could mean that we have our strikers in BDCR, Hutchinson and Evans. It might mean that Alves takes up a wingers spot. That Braybrooke is the central midfielder alongside Page that need to create our chances. If we are all expecting loads of incomings, then I fear we really don't understand the financial position we find ourselves in. We will probably stick with Stolarchyk in Goal with an Academy keeper as 3rd choice. I suspect we sell Souttar and probably Nelson or Okoli.... but whatever remains is likely to be alongside Vestegard, again, with strong academy products making the bench.... It's effectively the "league 1 loan" we always talk about them needing.
  3. The same Rene Hake that has a managerial win percentage of 35% against Russell Martin with a career win rate at 38%?? That Rene Hake?
  4. Dave challinor has also said he wants a break from football. As I said "someone who is available"....
  5. who else would you have gone with?? i'm not being pedantic... I'm just interested.... Who were the truly realistic prospects that would have been happy to manage us in League One, with no money and a boat load of expectation?? I'm no fan of the Martin Appointment (rFm) but I also don't know who else we could have secured...
  6. because that's what happens when certain factions appropriate a symbol to further a distasteful cause. The swastika (or it's pre-nazi established version) was a sign of good fortune and good luck... I don't think you can blame society as a whole for an association that has been rammed down everyone's throats for 12 months by those wanting to promote a viewpoint.

    Dogs

Our Boy turned 12 months old this week and it's been quite the experience!! 🤣🤣🤣 Puppies are HARD work. BUT.... it's got me out and about more and I've lost over a stone as a result of just walking more. My wife started a Facebook page, sharing walks and dog friendly venues. Roll forward to Friday night and I thought to myself ",I'm sure I could make a website out of this". My toxic trait is thinking I can figure out how to do things I have no idea how to do!... The result though..... www.murphyandme.co.uk Please check it out, share, and give me feedback. I'd LOVE this to become a thing. My brain is saying "obviously this will become the dog version of trip advisor".... In reality, I just hope it helps people discover places for them and their canine companions!
  8. I look forward to playing in the Dunelm Stadium.
  9. They stayed training in case this was the outcome.
  10. Monday 26th now isn't it??
  11. I agree. But that isn't what I was saying.
  12. Sure.... But Hull WILL have been preparing for a game against Southampton. Training drills will have been built around their known patterns of play and strengths / weaknesses.... Now they have to pivot to Middlesbrough at short notice. Middlesbrough will have had all this time to train and drill against Hulls patterns. It's an advantage without a doubt.
  13. So there's a chance we could get him??? 🤣
  14. For the integrity of the competition, they should have just promoted Hull. it doesn't feel right that Middlesbrough get a stab at the final. They will have had a disproportionate amount of time to prepare against a known opposition. Something Hull won't have had the benefit of.
  15. I love vardy... probably my only true sporting hero..... BUT... what evidence do we have that playing alongside him or having him in the squad will improve the other strikers? Didn't work for Daka did it... or kelechi, or kramaric.... I think we need to except that his time with us was special, but that the club needs to evolve.
  16. it goes beyond this though doesn't it. Our politics isn't set up to actually tackle the REALLY hard problems to solve... because it's daily news cycles and trying not to fall foul of public sentiment. For the UK to move forward a few fundamental conversations need to be had - how do we reform the Welfare State that almost makes it more attractive to be on benefits than in low paid work - they tried to do this, but it caused a labour rebellion how do we continue to fund our state pension, when we have a declining birth rate and an increasing pensioner class - Especially when "immigration" is a toxic conversation How do we move away from unfunded Public Sector pensions and align them closer to those available in the Private Sector - unions will kick up merry hell about this How do we renew the UK infrastructure when we operate in 5 year parlimentary cycles - it needs BIG investment, but we don't have the political will to do this How do we make more housing available, when by increasing supply, it's likely to have a negative impact on the vast majority of "wealth" in UK families (their property) - falling house prices will be heavily criticised and potentially disastorous for our Mortgage model in the UK. How do we evolve away from a service led economy to one which targets the industries of the future? How do we evolve our energy infrastructure to try to protect against climate change and reliance on ourseas supply? - Most of our energy companies are owned by foreign companies. None of these are easy problems to solve for ANY party, and even more so under the toxic UK media. in short........ until the above are addressed
  17. I've always said that Starmer is the Fabio Wardley of Politics.
  18. I don't really understand where the distaste for Streeting comes from? He's done a decent job so far with the NHS and he is a strong orator. I suspect he would give Farage a punch on the nose or two. if I had to pick, it probably WOULD be streeting. I like what Burnham stands for in terms of his Mayoral politics, he is very cross party and collaborative which is how I think politics SHOULD work... but lets be honest, that approach doesn't translate well into Westminster, unless he is suddenly going to introduce PR. Starmers shortcomings are obvious, but honestly, as a prime minister... he's done alright, especially on foreign policy and approach - which lets be honest - there's been a heavy need for! His biggest drawback, is that he fails to paint the picture of hope and tell the story of where he wants to take us as a country. not helped by the fact that 80% of the UK media are wanting him to fail anyway.
  19. At what he did.... Vardy WAS world class. he wasn't a "complete" striker... But in terms of playing on the shoulder, running in behind, there were very very few better. Look at his shots to goal ratio, it's insane. all those other strikers mentioned played a different game. If Vardy had been at Utd, he would be seen as one of the PL Greats.
  20. I may turn out to be wrong on this statement.... But IF people are expecting us to land Russell Martin, Scott Parker or managers of that ilk, then are going to be very disappointed with who we manage to land in League One. I still laugh now at the time that people on here turned their nose up at Emery before he went to Villa, as he "wasn't the calibre we needed" at the time. We will either get a big name with no managerial pedigree, starting out their managerial career - Wilshire, Cleverley, Mason etc........ or a name that's a bit past it now, - Mowbray, Bruce, Smith, none of it is going to be pretty, or inspiring.
  21. The family stuff is all well and good, but who is left that knew vichai?? At that point, it's just pictures on a wall.
  22. It was our biggest mistake this season. Even a bang average championship striker in place, would probably have kept us up.
  23. i also can't believe you've missed my exceptionally clever word play...
  24. to be fair... that looks INC-RED-I-Bull!!!!
