Bettsj2 Posted 16 April 2012 Posted 16 April 2012 Strange but everyone I spoke to about Alan Young that was going to watch us when he was playing says he was shit. Half a good season and that was about it. Certainly not deserving of the legend tag.

No I can't agree with you Youngy was a real favorite who put his head in where it hurt and was a very good striker. I was around when he played and they used to chant his name plenty of times on the kop.
accessory Posted 17 April 2012 Posted 17 April 2012 Apparently, he had "passhun". So it's no wonder some fans liked him - probably the parents/grandparents of those who now worship Steve Howard.
Zingari Posted 17 April 2012 Posted 17 April 2012 I feel sorry for Youngy , he doesn’t half have to answer to some idiots
Trav Le Bleu Posted 17 April 2012 Posted 17 April 2012 I think Daggers (The RL one, not the FT one) was looking for an excuse to hang up on that guy

While I can't say anything about his all round play nor his "putting his head in" ability his record of 104 league games and 26 goals, with a career record of 349 and 89 suggests he wasn't a particularly good striker. Hes an awful analyst though, but so are Shearer and Robbie Savage, so hes in good company.
