Imagine if Youngy, say three/four months ago was giving such a negative 'opinion' on Richie Wellens?

The bulk of the forum would have been praising him for his superb judgement of a player's shortcomings and for climbing aboard the 'Wellens out' bus

Alan young spent the whole of the phone in defending his call on beckford not going up at peterborough, he can't take critisism and in his eyes, is never in the wrong. I blame Sky with their over analysis of games. Instead of just commentating on the game, commentators now think they are analysts and its their opinion that counts. They should do their job and commentate on the game, throw in a few witty remarks and leave it up to the listeners to form their own opinions on the game. I can't remember their names,the ones that used to take it in turns during a match, but i thought they were far better at bringing the game over to the listener, .

Alan Young is to Beckford, what the Daily Mail is to Islams, over the top rhetoric, not completely unjustified, but rammed down your throat which such an unrelenting agenda that it is very difficult for some of it not to stick. The difference is I don't have to read the Daily Mail, I have to listen to Alan Young if I want to hear commentary on a Leicester match.

So Beckford disobeyed Pearson's orders towards the end of the match, argued with a couple of players and failed to throw himself at Schlupp's deflected shot towards the end of the game incase he got hurt, and people are surprised that the phone-in was focused on him?

I don't mind Young. He can be infuriating when he cuts callers off whilst they're making a point, but he has improved since the wingers/wide midfielders debate where he got slated for talking over the caller.

I don't always agree with him, but I'd rather have him than someone who just stayed on the fence not wanting to upset people. But then this thread would probably be called sack Alan Young he never gives a opinion.

I think he just gets annoyed at a player who he can see is better than he ever was, but doesn't fufill his potential. Young knows if Beckford had his work ethic coupled with his own skill, Beckford would be a brilliant player. I just don't think he explains himself well at times.

I'm in two minds about Youngy. As a fan I watched him play for us and while he had bags of effort and never say die attitude he was never a top striker, well never at the highest level. And I maybe wrong but I don't think he has ever manager a league side either.

So when I hear him being so strident in his views I often think , And your qualifications to slag players and Managers are what ? Having said that he does at least give an opinion unlike the lackeys at the Mercury. So if he gets the boot who would you like in his place ?

I find Alan Young extremely bitter nasty person I for one be extremely pleased in the cull next season of players and staff on the playing side be happy to see Radio Leicester heave Youngs arse out the door too!!

When Young first joined the team everyone welcomed him as he was the first person in an absolute age to slate the management of the club and the players - while the rest of the media lived in the boardroom's arsehole.

It's more than simple - you don't like a pundit's opinion you can contact the show to argue with him (which is the point of the show having people with opinions) or you can turn your radio off and go do something else instead.

The frequent calling on here for him to be sacked is feeble.

I quite like Stringer to be honest, tries to entertain, is a bit annoying at times but Charles Whatsisname used to send me to sleep.

Alan Young on the other hand is just plain bad. He seems to have missed the developments in the game that have occured over the last 20 years. He also comes across as having rarely done any research - he gets quite a bit wrong, it's embarrassing. I think for a lot of people his super-dour and negative style of commentary is a real turn off.

It's the local Leicester radio station. It's not like "Don't like Tesco, don't shop there." There's no other alternative. It's either put up with that twat with his stubborn, shit opinions or nothing at all. If he was the voice of the fans it wouldn't matter but he is so far wide of the mark it's unbelievable.

Young certainly does have his favourites and rejects but he has defended Beckford in the past, he even said he had a terrific second half against Ipswich when he was evidently dogshit.

And Gallagher isn't one of his favourites, quite the opposite, he constantly slates him for not getting stuck in and not tracking back (though the latter is a myth). It's Wellens who is his big favourite, hence why he gives him MOTM almost all the time.

I've gone off him after thinking he was great at first. TBH I miss Sincy, he may not have been an ex-player but he was a good and fair commentator.
