KidKunny Posted 7 April 2012 Posted 7 April 2012 Love or hate them they are better than 5XL just wish young would get of Beckords back, last week all he did was criticise Beckford It's all he ever does
Mack Posted 7 April 2012 Posted 7 April 2012 The bloke is getting paid to be a pundit... A pundit's job is to give an opinion... Thus he is doing what he is paid to do. You may not like his opinion which is fair enough, seeing as Radio Leicester are crying out for new people to call in post match if any of you feel that strongly why not ring up and challenge him on his opinion?

_Fatboyslow_ Posted 7 April 2012 Posted 7 April 2012 Has the world gone mad ? Young was quite good today, well in the 1st half as that's all I hread Also being a pundit is not a exsuse for being a narrow minded bigot, well that's Robbie Savages exscue.
THEBIGJOHNSTEADER; Posted 7 April 2012 Posted 7 April 2012 Saw youngy in the flesh this week. He's got a fabulous arse
ian the fox Posted 8 April 2012 Posted 8 April 2012 hope not , he needs a medal for working with the string , hes hopeless ,
smudger63 Posted 8 April 2012 Posted 8 April 2012 The best co commentator we`ve had on radio Leicester, by a country mile in my opinion, so i will be sad to see him go. His job has been to give his opinion, and not sit on the fence, which he has done, and while i haven`t always agreed with his opinions, i respected that he had the right to have them. Just because i didn`t always agree with him, didn`t make him an idiot or a bad co commentator, he was a radio pundit with a view. It has been sad how some have had a pop at him on here, just because he had a different opinion to themselves. I`m old enough to have watched Alan Young play for City, and for me he was a player i knew would be full of passion and effort playing for my club, and for that he was one of my favourite players of the time. Having him on Radio Leicester, he has lost none of that passion that he had all them years ago, and has been a breath of fresh air, after a whole list of boring fence sitting co commentators that we have had on there in the past. For everyone who wanted him gone, well if it`s true that he`s jacked it in, then you can all have your party, me, i have more respect for a man that represented my club with such passion and pride than that. If it`s true that he`s leaving to go back to scotland to be with his childhood sweeheart, well fair play to the Big Man, and i wish him best of luck for the future, and hope he finds lots of good times ahead.
NewburyFox Posted 8 April 2012 Posted 8 April 2012 Rumours over on Bentley's that he's quit RL. Why now and not at the end of the season? Only about 3 weeks away after all.
Webbo Posted 8 April 2012 Posted 8 April 2012 If there was a rumour on Bentleys that today was Sunday I'd still check the calender.
sphericalfox Posted 8 April 2012 Posted 8 April 2012 Why now and not at the end of the season? Only about 3 weeks away after all. I think the transfer window for commentators is open from Oct 11th to July 23rd. Best to make the change now, and hope they settle in over the summer.
tewkesbury-fox Posted 8 April 2012 Posted 8 April 2012 Odd that Np didn't do the aftermatch press on saturday..wonder if last weeks beckford crucifixtion had anything to do with it.
UpTheLeagueFox Posted 8 April 2012 Posted 8 April 2012 If there was a rumour on Bentleys that today was Sunday I'd still check the calender. That made me chuckle Odd that Np didn't do the aftermatch press on saturday..wonder if last weeks beckford crucifixtion had anything to do with it. I doubt it. From time to time he hands over the reigns to Craig Shakespeare. I don't think there's anything more to it than that. And as for Alan Young, he's not had an easy time but there's light at the end of the tunnel and it was good to see him smiling again yesterday.
Freeman's Wharfer Posted 8 April 2012 Posted 8 April 2012 If he has left I would evaluate him as having started well, and as having been a breath of fresh air, but seemed to become a little 'too comfortable' in the role. Got to the point where he wasn't so much a pundit with an opinion and seemingly saw himself as more of an expert whose word was gospel. Went from offering opinion/insight/viewpoints to telling people outright that they were wrong and he was right. The sort of person where if they posted on here (a forum for opinions), would constantly be getting into conflicts for failing to accept that through the very nature of football everyone has a right to an opinion. Some are perhaps more informed that anothers, maybe more educated too, but rarely can there be a differentiation between explicitly wrong and explicitly right.
flowwolf Posted 8 April 2012 Posted 8 April 2012 Maybe our owners leaned on R.L to get rid of him after reading all the posts on here and thinking it really is our opinion that counts.

Captain... Posted 8 April 2012 Posted 8 April 2012 Rumours over on Bentley's that he's quit RL. If true, I do wonder if last week's stirring the non event of the Beckford incident had anything to do with it, seemingly on the back of Young and Stringer (mainly Young on the match commentary I don't listen to the moan in) national newspapers were running stories of Beckford being forced out the club. It may just be that he has quit now, but will see out the last few weeks of the season and there is nothing interesting behind it, but it would be funny to start rumours saying he had a massive bust up with his boss and is now being forced out of the station. Anyway I think it is time for Young to go, regardless of your personal opinions of the man, I have seen a number of people say they would rather not listen to commentary than listen to Young, I do wonder if listening figures are down. For Doncaster I watched and listened to the Thai stream rather than radio Leicester with stream on silent. It was better than Stringer and Young. I do wonder if the Thai stream has affected figures, and how many people listen to Radio 5L Extra when they have the chance instead of RL, it would be a good indication of listener satisfaction.
accessory Posted 8 April 2012 Posted 8 April 2012 Bentley's are now saying that Young will stay at RL for at least another season. So Beckford will be off then..
Zingari Posted 9 April 2012 Posted 9 April 2012 Bentley's are now saying that Young will stay at RL for at least another season. So Beckford will be off then.. has this really become an either /or situation ? edit; I'm forming the Get Alan Young to Stay movement . GAYS for short

Wycombe Fox Posted 16 April 2012 Posted 16 April 2012 Alan Young commentates with the same amount of passion as when he played for us. I used to love watching him play for us, never gave anything less than everything he had. Mainly stills on the video below but a couple of good goals. Check out the style for the header on about 4:16
Haydos Posted 16 April 2012 Posted 16 April 2012 104 Appearances, 26 Goals. Not bad at all. Don't tel Col City, Beckford has a better ratio than that and he calls it 'shit'.
