Trav Le Bleu Posted 31 May 2012 Posted 31 May 2012 So it would be manslaughter if you were, I dunno, messing about with a can of lynx and a fag lighter and the place went up, because you caused the fire being a twat but you didn't mean to start it? You sound as though you've done this before.

More or less, if you have no intention to burn a house down (and twatting about with a lynx can and a fag lighter is not a criminal offence) then it would be death by recklessness and therefore involuntary manslaughter. Because it was a deliberate criminal act, that would clearly endanger the lives of those inside the building it can be tried as murder. If the person who did it believed the house to be empty and it wasn't then it would also be manslaughter, but if it was the parents then you have to assume that they would know where their kids are. Incidentally I have done that, my room was covered in Match magazine footy posters, I just put all of them up regardless of who it was, and when I was 13 I think, I was messing about in my room, and scorching the posters of players I didn't like with a lynx can and a lighter, and a few false attempts where the lighter didn't work liberally doused a Shaun Teale poster in teenage desperation, when it finally did catch the whole poster went up, taking John Fashanu with it and a few others. As I said the whole wall and even the parts of the ceiling I could reach were covered in posters, I fortunately managed to put it out before it consumed the whole Aston Villa section, and no further damage was done, but with the amount of deoderant in the air it really could have been a disaster. A few replacements posters a quick trip to the neighbour's bin and nobody knew about it.

Captain... Posted 31 May 2012 Posted 31 May 2012 Should have waited a couple of minutes. Most were ruined, or a dead giveaway at what I had been doing, so I think they all got removed, I had soon replaced all with Leicester City and England posters. But for a while I even had the odd Cov poster up, the only teams' posters I wouldn't have were Forest and Derby, they were reserved for the dart board.
Bert Posted 31 May 2012 Posted 31 May 2012 Awful isn't it. Few guys I know in Derby have said the guy did it to try and get a bigger house and it's "gone a bit wrong" Staggering case. Heard the same. The council wouldn't give them a bigger house, so he apparently did it. Very sad for 6 innocent kids, and if it true absolutely disgusting.
