how about this for a solution to the cycle lane problem, don't know how feasible or costly but my idea would be to use one of the pavements for cyclists and the opposite pavement for walkers as most of the pavements around where i live (near cov city centre) are nowhere near overcrowded with pedestrians. all you would have to do is set the give way junctions back so cyclists could cycle. people just need educating drivers and cyclists alike, its like a war zone at times around here.

yeah that is true but there has to be compromises somewhere and the existing roads are certainly not wide enough to fit cycle lanes on

Skateboarders are just as bad on pavements expecting people to get out the way instead of slowing down.

 

If common sense was shared out equally then there would be no need for rules. Some would still complain of course.

Skateboard is worse - if you've ever had one of those strike you in the ankle, you'll know about it
