Floating Fox Posted 12 June 2012 Author Posted 12 June 2012 MCLAREN & FERRARI SWITCH DRIVERS Mclaren & Ferrari bosses have confirmed today that they are to trade drivers. Chris Sharman believed to be wanting out of the Mclaren team, stating he wanted to start fresh. Whilst the Ferrari team were looking for a new set of drivers, after a disapointing season. Steve Potter was selected by Mclaren as their new driver, despite never finishing higher than 8th in a Championship. Ron Dennis said "We believe in Steve, he is hard working and we think putting a good enough car underneath him can turn him into an exceptional racer. He'll definately be able to learn a few things from Hunt as well". Sharman will join Anthony Bates at Ferrari in an interesting combination, with Bates only having taken part in 2 previous season's taking an impressive 3rd in Season 18 where he was the protege of Great Champion Louth, who he has now replaced at the team! In other news, Ken Duddle has signed up for Jordan, who, for now, are holding back details on their next driver. Eddie Jordan has told the media he is hoping to get a big name in!

I'm pretty consistent to be fair
anotherharboroughfox Posted 12 June 2012 Posted 12 June 2012 SHARMAN THANKS HUNT Chris Sharman took time at his busy schedule preparing for this season to thank McLaren driver and former team mate Andy Hunt for his help. Sharman revealed to us he wanted out the team as he had a fallout with Team Principal Ron Dennis about the reliability of the car after a string of DNF's for both Sharman and his team mate which led to disappointing results for both drivers. 'Ferrari was a perfect opportunity for me as Ferrari said they were looking to the future.' said Sharman. He also revealed that he'd hope his former team mate would one day join him at Ferrari in future seasons.
Rincewind Posted 12 June 2012 Posted 12 June 2012 I don't mind who signs as long as they don't leave for AWOL at a later date.

Floating Fox Posted 13 June 2012 Author Posted 13 June 2012 ARROWS ANNOUNCE PLANS TO CONTINUE Arrows boss Tom Walkinshaw met the media today to make the surprise announcement that they would continue into season 23. After a miserable season at the back of the field with two inexperienced drivers and a lack of funding, a lot of people expected that to be the end of their involvement. But They have scraped enough money to get at least 1 car out of track & have made an encouraging signing with Alistair Proudman moving from the Williams team. Walkinshaw is trying to get funding together for a 2nd car but admitted it was "unlikely".
Floating Fox Posted 13 June 2012 Author Posted 13 June 2012 BENNETON MAKE INTENTIONS OBVIOUS After a fantastic season 22, the Benneton team are certainly looking to keep that run of form going. They announced to the media today that they would be retaining the services of current Champion Kef Willock and also announced that they would be appointing Fi Ridgwell, switching from the Williams team. Last season Ridgwell finished level on points with, new teamate, Willock but lost out by the virtue of race-wins. They are definately going to be the ones to beat. The news of both Ridgwell and Proudman's departure of Williams, leaves Sir Frank in a sticky situation. A massive cut in funding and both his drivers abonding him means we may not see the famous name on the grid next season, which is certainly a shame.
AoWW Posted 13 June 2012 Posted 13 June 2012 Thought i'd team up with you this time Fi, hopefully another 1/2 finish for us Excellent

McCaughan, who'd taken time out last season for personal reasons but made a mid-season come back with the weak Arrows team is Jordan's big name. He has work with Duddle before and is one of the most experienced Drivers in the field. Jordan said "I told ya I'd get a big name!"
