Captain... Posted 28 June 2012 Posted 28 June 2012 No a full menu, many options. Well that's just not fair most children don't get a healthy balanced diet. Have a watch, it's quite incredible actually.I have got immense respect for anyone who works in prisons mind trying to get this lot to do something, I get annoyed when people can't remember simple formulas on Excel, I can't imagine what it must be like to have to try and teach Humans just this damn useless. I started watching last week, then realised there was no chance of seeing Ramsey brutally hacked up and end up in pie, so switched it off.

Rincewind Posted 28 June 2012 Posted 28 June 2012 Watching plus 1. Only problem is they let him out again. I supposed they thought it would be beyond cruelty to the inmates to keep him in.
Rincewind Posted 28 June 2012 Posted 28 June 2012 This lot seem a less likable bunch than the ones in Lifers.
Guest MattP Posted 28 June 2012 Posted 28 June 2012 This lot seem a less likable bunch than the ones in Lifers. One of the first things I thought, these appear to be the career criminals, absolutely hopeless whereas I suppose the lifers could have made one (albeit massive) mistake.
Rincewind Posted 28 June 2012 Posted 28 June 2012 Should have gone to Gartree, he would have been treated better and met with more intelligence..
Daggers Posted 29 June 2012 Posted 29 June 2012 You surprise me, Daggers. If you were on a salary of £15k, wouldn't you rather be in prison? I know I would. Prisoners get budgies n shit. Most landlords don't even allow pets. Where is the justice??? It's the TV which turns itself off if there is something that will wind me up I like. At home I have to suffer no end of crap which the family puts on: crime-solving vet psychologists, smarmy twats doing up homes and fvcking American deviants singing and dancing. GLEE I'd love someone to just give me a TV but censor all the shit off it for me.
Captain... Posted 2 July 2012 Posted 2 July 2012 I was talking about this again the other day and it is true that you actually get more opportunities in a prison like that one than some people have on the outside, a free degree, a job, 3 square meals and a place to sleep. So why is that not available to people unless they commit a crime? So what about a return to workhouses, but with an educational element, basically like a prison with all the free access to education, sporting facilities, and psychologists, but one you are free to leave, take the example in the program, they work and get £12 a week, I don't think it said if it was 9-5, but this wouldn't be highly paid, it would be board and lodging, pension and tax contributions and a bit of pocket money, strict rules on things that go on in there, and mandatory classes for those that need to get up to a certain level of literacy etc and opportunities to further study if desired, all paid for by working 9-5. The biggest problem I have with this is not that criminals have this access to free education, sporting facilities, and psychological help but that there are plenty out there who don't who need it just as badly, call them the future criminals, it is all very well and good helping people after they have committed a crime, but we need to be helping people before they do it, we all know of people that are probably capable of committing crimes and probably have done but never been caught or probably will end up doing so because they got dealt a bum deal. Why are waiting for them to kill someone before they get the help they need.
Rincewind Posted 2 July 2012 Posted 2 July 2012 People should have all this without being on the poverty or in prison first. Are you suggesting sweat shops and slave labour like other countries? Education health care and available work should be a human right.

Education health care and available work should be a human right. Not sweat shops, basically something equivalent to what we saw on Lifers, but without the loss of liberty, you have an opportunity to work, most likely low skilled work, but there will always be a need for managers and IT and HR etc within any organisation. By working you are paid with basic accommodation, think university halls (which incidentally my hall was based on a design for a prison), 3 healthy balanced meals a day, and an opportunity to educate yourself and make more of yourself, as well as having access to basic sports facilities. This would be aimed at anybody who is out of work and has no way to find work, because there are no jobs in their field and they don't have the skill set to find a job in a different field. The equivalent in what you would be paid would be enough to go out and have a couple of drinks, a nice meal or a day out once a week, and even enough to allow you a holiday once a year. I'm just throwing ideas out there at the moment, but if we can provide that for murderers arsonist etc why can we not provide it for decent honest people?

We do, although you need to join the Armed Forces.
Captain... Posted 2 July 2012 Posted 2 July 2012 We do, although you need to join the Armed Forces. Hmm, not sure about that, and the army is not available to everyone, and not everyone is suitable for army life.
Rincewind Posted 2 July 2012 Posted 2 July 2012 If you can hold a rifle and go "aaaaaaagggghhh!" they'll have you.
