cc_star Posted 20 August 2012 Posted 20 August 2012 High Pay Commission have published a report showing that over the past 50yrs UK wages have risen an average of 186%, but during that time footballers wages have risen over 1,500%, the bulk of these rises coming since '97 So what you might think, football is awash with money and complicated share schemes or foreign billionaires are paying for it? Wrong! We are, we all are from the most devoted of fans to the armchair fan The report shows that ticket prices have gone up over 1,300% during that time & a similar amount for TV subscriptions... something that's going to leap further when the next ridiculous TV deal kicks in Source: Press Association I know there's nothing we can do about it, it's not like the whole country is going to boycott games or cancel SkySports, but next time you see a footballer proudly showing off a wag, pulling up in their £100k+ car, tweeting photos of their luxury pad or whatever... think to yourself "I paid for that & probably went short to do so"

AyewJoking Posted 20 August 2012 Posted 20 August 2012 What!? football is funded by the fans?????????
Jordan Posted 20 August 2012 Posted 20 August 2012 Ticket prices are set to maximize gate receipts and concession income, not to subsidize player salaries. Clubs can use sponsorship money, merchandising income and media deal money to pay salaries (not to mention cash injections from parent companies or loans). When it comes to ticket prices, though, they are only charging you as much as they think fans will pay.
