Bellend Sebastian Posted 14 October 2012 Posted 14 October 2012 I can confirm that Raj finished, because I bumped into him just afterwards. As far as I know, he's still alive. Hurray!
foxesfan1989 Posted 14 October 2012 Author Posted 14 October 2012 2:03 for my first half marathon, happy with that. SO much respect for anyone doing the full

foxesfan1989 Posted 14 October 2012 Author Posted 14 October 2012 Well done mate, very respectable for a first one, and gives you a good target for next time Cheers. Yep exactly, I know I can go sub 2hrs for the next one now at least! With a bit of extra training.
FoxesAreBlue Posted 14 October 2012 Posted 14 October 2012 Fvck me my legs are in pieces - I got round the full in 3:45:42 according to my watch which a bit of a wounder because i wanted 3:45 as i was going round, that said this is a new PB!! Previous was 3:57:45 so not all bad - it was fukkin' 'ard tho. Had a bit of banter with Stringer as I passed him and deservedly got a bit of stick back as he passed me later on, he did give me some strawberry pancake though so couple that with the £2 he sponsored me for the London Marathon he's in my good books. I got cramp right outside Costa coffee in the new bit of the highcross and went down like a sack of shit which cost me about 2 mins and m add me look a right dickhead, luckily a physio happened to be walking by at the time and helped me stretch and walk it off. Brilliant day and was nice to run in a small, lesser known marathon - especially on home turf. The volunteers were brilliant all the way round.
foxesfan1989 Posted 14 October 2012 Author Posted 14 October 2012 3:45? Wowsa, that's good! I was hating the last mile of the half, so huge respect for that time at that distance. Love the Stringer banter too haha, saw he ran 3hrs 33. Beast.
FoxesAreBlue Posted 14 October 2012 Posted 14 October 2012 Yeah I seen him and they Physio Tom Freeman, said hello and reminded our esteemed commentator that, should I beat him, it would be 2-0 to me as I done him in London earlier this year. About an hour later he passed me and just gave me the best 'smug' look in the world. It did make me laugh, he looked strong and I knew the race was over from that point. Glad he took it as a laugh though. Bluefoxtim Posted 14 October 2012 Posted 14 October 2012 Managed 3 hours 47 minutes. For the first 10 miles I was at 8:00 min/mile pace and then after that every mile was slower than the previous one. Stuggled on the last 10 miles, 22/23 were absolute bastards! Went past Stringer and had a chat after about 8 miles, he went past me at about 15 I didn't walk once though, despite the temptations as a suprising number around me kept stopping for water and stretching. First marathon and so a PB, will definetly learn from this!

So much support, encouragement and kind heartedness. Fantastic effort
Raj Posted 15 October 2012 Posted 15 October 2012 MASSIVE RESPECT to all you full'ers. I did the half in a PB of 1hr 48.57 seconds(every second counts when you beat your PB) I was nearly in tears going up New Walk cos i knew how close i was to my PB. Cant ever imagine doing that half TWAICe to do a ful...i reckon i would die! My mate came 11th in the full with a time under 2hrs 55mins...I cant even Contemplate that time! Well done everyone!!
SystonFox Posted 15 October 2012 Posted 15 October 2012 Congratulations on the PB. I may stick to halfs now as I've ticked the marathon box.im not a particularly fast runner so would hope for around 1.45 ish as a decent time. Never ran in an event but my PB for 13miles during marathon training is 1.57. Averaging around 2hours - 2.02
Bellend Sebastian Posted 15 October 2012 Posted 15 October 2012 My mate ran his first HM yesterday and came in at 1:41. I'm profoundly jealous, but he's trained like a bastard for it so fair play. I ran 6 miles yesterday (not in the race, I hasten add) and that was plenty
Raj Posted 15 October 2012 Posted 15 October 2012 Honestly think that some folk are just born to be good at something like running. Naturals they call them. I call them bastards! P.S Im in intense pain still and i only did the half...i would be a wreck if i attempted the full!!
FoxesAreBlue Posted 15 October 2012 Posted 15 October 2012 Well done everybody. Was a good little run weren't it!
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 15 October 2012 Posted 15 October 2012 Saw the end of the Melbourne Marathon the winner was a Kenyan who won in 2hr11min he was flying for the last 300metres. Was unbelievable to watch! Whilst obviously not attending the Leicester one but here yesterday was amazing every piece of the course littered with volunteers or members of the public cheering and clapping non stop. I found myself doing the same all over the course and a one point when i had seen my old man's for the last time i was handing out glucose jelly beans at the 38km to some stragglers on a part of the course that was other wise vacant, i think i got just as much out of help as they did.
