Filthy Foxes Posted 4 November 2012 Posted 4 November 2012 I wanna do something different this year with the missus for NYE. Any recommendations like restaurants in the uk that do decent events or any formal partys / dinner events?
Trav Le Bleu Posted 4 November 2012 Posted 4 November 2012 And I thought people started preparing for Christmas too early!
Captain... Posted 4 November 2012 Posted 4 November 2012 Get out the country, go see how it is done in other countries.

We had a barbeque 2 years ago with lots of burners to keep warm but that didn't really work as it was too cold and ended up with a sooty nose and a cough from all the smoke. New idea's for NYE welcome on a budget.

It depends what you want to do, personally I would avoid crowds, just get a few friends together go somewhere remote, thinking beach, or top of a hill, and have a fire drink loads and crash out in tents or car until sober. The big problem with this plan is always the weather. The alternative is head to somewhere like London, always buzzing lots of people fun atmosphere, but if you get pissed off with lots of people as I do, it can kill the atmosphere.
flowwolf Posted 4 November 2012 Posted 4 November 2012 But I thought the world is going to end in December ?
Rincewind Posted 4 November 2012 Posted 4 November 2012 It is New Year time for Hindus hence the celebrations in Belgrave Road. Would have gone to have a look but the weather has put me off.
Guest Posted 4 November 2012 Posted 4 November 2012 As most years I'll likely to in bed asleep with the phones off the hook. Then I can get up early on NYD and walk the dog along a deserted beach in peace.
goose2010 Posted 4 November 2012 Posted 4 November 2012 Went to New York about 3 years ago was incredible 10 hours in Times Square was a bit tiring but the party atmosphere was great, will be in Vegas this year can't wait, best thing to do in this country get a group of mates and hire a cottage in the middle of nowhere. What I did with my ex once was hae a few drinks on the night then get up about 5am and pack a breakfast picnic and head to bradgate park walk up to old John and watch the sun come up v.romantic and won me a lot of man points that year! Obviously check the weather first!
Guest Posted 4 November 2012 Posted 4 November 2012 My daughter flew from the south of France to Edinburgh with her boyfriend a couple of years back. Weather was terrible and the New Year's Eve fireworks and concerts all got cancelled.
Voll Blau Posted 4 November 2012 Posted 4 November 2012 NYE is really overrated unless you're at a house party.
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 4 November 2012 Posted 4 November 2012 4 day music festival with a dozen close mates again for me, if i wasn't going to that i would say most overated night of the year.
