Jon the Hat Posted 18 December 2012 Posted 18 December 2012 Unless I was being paid a fortune I don't think I'd move somewhere with even colder weather than the UK. Say what you want about cultural experiences and all that jazz but fundamentally any real Brit only ever moves abroad on the promise of better weather. Vancouver has hot summers, great for the beach (Kitsilano Baby!) and hiking, snowy winters (Whistler anyone??) great for boarding, skiing and a bit of Apres action. Whats not to like??
purpleronnie Posted 18 December 2012 Posted 18 December 2012 Its raining at the moment apparantly....lovely....I believe the average temps is lower than london and has a lot more rain. I still think people leave with a different attitude, that everything is better, the holiday spirit if you like, but it all boils down to the same thing, got to find a place to live, a job, girlfriend, other friends etc...all without your current family and friends.
Captain... Posted 18 December 2012 Posted 18 December 2012 Go for it!! Like Captain Shrapnel said, worst that can happen is you don't like it, and if you don't you can come straight back but with a wider mindset and more employable! In a few years time when I'm done at uni I fancy living abroad, be it permanently or for a year or 2, and Canada is one the places I'd love to go to, Vancouver looks incredible! Why wait? If you are at uni get on an Erasmus year.
Tom17LCFC Posted 18 December 2012 Posted 18 December 2012 Why wait? If you are at uni get on an Erasmus year. I've already signed my house contract for next year now! I'll get through uni and weigh up the situation after. I'll be done in around 16 months, so after that I'll begin to explore the possibilities. I wanna be a teacher so teaching English abroad somewhere is another possibility that I'll look into. I do think travel genuinely broadens the mind.
