FurtiveFox Posted 8 February 2013 Posted 8 February 2013 Brainwashed by who exactly? Oh dear, oh dear. I'll try to be patient. All political parties (bar maybe much smaller ones) are controlled by the rich and by large corporations and look after their interests while presenting themselves as being elected representatives of the people; smiling assassins if you like. The media are largely similarly placed but the majority of the public are happy to be spoonfed what to think by the media. It keeps the public docile and easy to manage. The Daily Mail is cringeworthy in this and do you remember the Sun's old column 'The Sun Says' which made we want to scream 'ug' and start foaming at the mouth. Society is to put it concisely controlled by the media. We are lost to the immoral minority so all your imagined progress and civilising of the human race is mere window dressing although find comfort in it if you will. Bleedin' Heart liberals, a hugely exposed and flawed welfare state, workshy, pikey vermin who's only knowledge is how to exploit said system and how to estimate an 1/8th, the lack of respect for good, honest, hardworking people and indeed good, honest hardwork itself, the declining appreciation of natural beauty, the increasing importance of material possessions and Nicki Minaj. What he said.

FurtiveFox Posted 8 February 2013 Posted 8 February 2013 Interesting. Irrelevant to the question, but interesting nonetheless It does actually answer your question. The public are brainwashed by the media to believe virtually anything but they have their own masters.
Haydos Posted 8 February 2013 Posted 8 February 2013 It does actually answer your question. The public are brainwashed by the media to believe virtually anything but they have their own masters. So you'll think the opposite to whatever 'the media' thinks, no matter what that is? That just sounds like a 5 year old throwing a tantrum.
Guest Posted 8 February 2013 Posted 8 February 2013 Is this the most useless topic in the western world at the moment. Both the UK government and the French government are debating it without end. Interesting for a day but then ....whatever. It's so unimportant. Don't hide your homophobic natures behind an argument that marriage is just for heteros because of children or god or whatever. State it clearly you don't want gays getting married because you don't want gays - you'd like them all exterminated (well apart from those lesbians that make films for you to watch) Pathetically boring. Who cares who gets married to whom, most of them will get divorced anyway and marriage is a completely superficial "manmade" construct.

That just sounds like a 5 year old throwing a tantrum. and that is a primitive attempt at discrediting my most valid point. No I will base my opinions on what I believe whether it coincides with the media or not. My point was that for the most part the population are sheep happy to be led, rightly or wrongly, wherever the media want them to be led.

You appear to be belittling people's views based on the fact that they coincide with the media and nothing else. Bit ironic.
BoneDog Posted 8 February 2013 Posted 8 February 2013 All this 'you're born gay' stuff is obvious baloney. Just look at that funny looking fella on Corrie. He played around at being a gay for a while but now he's boning Maria. Think on gays, that could be you.
Guest Posted 8 February 2013 Posted 8 February 2013 You appear to be belittling people's views based on the fact that they coincide with the media and nothing else. Bit ironic. Why reply to him Haydos when you realise he's just a WUM?

He played around at being a gay for a while but now he's boning Maria. Think on gays, that could be you. It's a well known way into the sack. women feel "safe" talking to gays about any topic, which then leads to building a special relationship, which then turns into sex. The woman, of course, feels incredibly good as she believes that she's converted the gay allowing her to be even more risqué than she normally would. and then again there are bisexual people. Are you telling me he was 'cured'? Smoked?

FurtiveFox Posted 8 February 2013 Posted 8 February 2013 You appear to be belittling people's views based on the fact that they coincide with the media and nothing else. Bit ironic. There is a difference. There is a depressingly large section of the population whose views are shaped by the media. Of the others sometimes their views will coincide.

Guest BlueBrett Posted 8 February 2013 Posted 8 February 2013 There is a difference. There is a depressingly large section of the population whose views are shaped by the media. Of the others sometimes their views will coincide. Where do you get your views from if not the media? Your mum?
FurtiveFox Posted 8 February 2013 Posted 8 February 2013 Where do you get your views from if not the media? Your mum? Sigh ... you are merely underlining my point. The media is of course to be considered but with a healthy degree of skepticism. What the more advanced of us can do is disseminate the information available and formulate our own opinions.
hantsfoxy Posted 8 February 2013 Posted 8 February 2013 Yet the media rarely voice concerns about the practice of female genital mutilation Especially the media in the East Midlands for some reason

What the more advanced of us can do is disseminate the information available and formulate our own opinions. Where do you get this information from was my point. I suppose you have a self-built satellite attached to the top of your head that allows you to pick up unfiltered absolute truths from outer space and the corridors of power?
Leicester Piggott Posted 8 February 2013 Posted 8 February 2013 Where do you get this information from was my point. I suppose you have a self-built satellite attached to the top of your head that allows you to pick up unfiltered absolute truths from outer space and the corridors of power? If it was a satellite, it wouldn't be attached to his head. It would have to be orbiting his head? - 1.
BoneDog Posted 8 February 2013 Posted 8 February 2013 Love is love eh Windsor? Nothing like a teenager being buggered to within an inch of his life. Who is this guy? Age of consent (whether hetero or homosexual) should remain at 16, but that's another debate entirely. I agree. Hasn't Tatchell already said that 'there's more work to do.'? Wouldn't be surprised if he wants to lower the limit. No doubt he'll have massive support from the 'modern' liberals. Joke. Why should it be 16 though? I'm sure a fair few of us got our nuts wet before we were 16. It's a good idea to keep the legal limit at 16 and above. Some youngsters will continue to behave like some of us did, but I'm happy to see us keep the legal limit at 16. Too many older pervs around to lower it.
Guest BlueBrett Posted 8 February 2013 Posted 8 February 2013 If it was a satellite, it wouldn't be attached to his head. It would have to be orbiting his head? - 1. It's not a satellite 'of' his head its a satellite on his head. The world turns and we turn with it
1964FOX Posted 8 February 2013 Posted 8 February 2013 Bloody hell this topic has become a WUM fest. Anyone done anything for LGBT history month some great things going on and some facinating articles.
Leicester Piggott Posted 8 February 2013 Posted 8 February 2013 It's not a satellite 'of' his head its a satellite on his head. The world turns and we turn with it I'm not sure you understand what a satellite is? If everything on this earth, by your dubious understanding, is therefore a satellite, then the use of the word itself in the context was completely unnecessary.
