Applause Store

Just tried applying for a pair of Leauge Of Their Own tickets.

After doing so I read some reviews & apparently some people have turned up and not got in.

They oversell each venue to make sure it's full, you have to get their hours early etc.

Has anybody got any tickets from here before? If so, How was your experiences?

I've got loads of tickets through them, it's fine really, all you gotta do is turn up about an hour or so before doors open to get it.

Yeah, its always been the way that they'd rather have a full auditorium than one where people get tickets and don't show. I got refused admittance to Never Mind the Buzzcocks a few months ago for being too late (classmates spent too long pissing around in Westfields). I really want to get into QI from Applause Store, but they seem to design it so you have to go watch a load of low-demand shows first.

Most places that offer free tickets do this. The BBC do with the tickets they give out through their website too. If you just offered the number of tickets that there actually were you'd end up with a venue 75% full - it's free so people aren't concerned. Therefore they give away more tickets.

It's not just restricted to free tickets - airlines have people working on optimising the number of tickets they can sell to a popular flight, knowing that not everyone will make it (especially those with flexible tickets). That's one reason why you hear stories of people being bumped up to first class. Can't really do that at a free show though.

Once got a pair of tickets to see Al Murray's chat show but when we got there we missed out because they over allocated them. It was a pain in the ass having to queue for ages and then not get in but it happens to a lot of people.

They gave us priority tickets to another of his shows so it wasn't all bad.

Yes, this is true.

If you're going to get tickets for something, either get there massively early or make sure it's not too far to travel and you've got a plan B.

My brother managed to get tickets to an intimate Beyonce gig down in London via Applause Store. I think only 300-400 were allowed in to the studio, and they actually gave out nearly 3 or 4x that amount of tickets. So people still queued up for hours and still didn't get in. Luckily my brother, his friend and I were one of the very last ones to get in and ended up getting very good seats anyway!

I've also been able to get tickets to Million Pound Drop via this a couple of times.
