Foxes Assistant Manager Craig Shakespeare is delighted to have a fully fit squad once again as City prepare for an npower Championship clash with Charlton Athletic on Tuesday.

Having been on the wrong side of 2-1 defeats in their last two games, City find themselves six points behind second-placed Hull City with two games in hand, meaning three points will be firmly in their sights at King Power Stadium.

January signing Chris Wood has missed the last two games with a knock, while Ben Marshall sat out the 2-1 FA Cup with Budweiser loss to Huddersfield last time out with an ankle injury.

Shakespeare revealed: “Pleasing news – both trained on Sunday and both will be ready for Tuesday.

And on the fitness of defensive duo Zak Whitbread and Sean St Ledger, there was more good news from the Foxes camp.

“They’ve both trained fully for a couple of weeks, had a few Under-21 games, and we’re very pleased to have them around the squad at the moment because we will need them for the games coming up,” said Shakespeare.

With the Foxes sitting in fifth position for the time-being, a fully fit squad will come as a welcome boost for manager Nigel Pearson as the team look to leapfrog Watford and Crystal Palace into third, who play Ipswich Town away and Bristol City at home respectively.

But with a glut of Championship games on the horizon for City, who have two matches in hand on Hull, Watford, Palace, and Middlesbrough, as well as one on Cardiff, Shakespeare insists it’s vital for the squad to focus on their own fixtures.

He added: “We can’t worry too much about what other teams do, but it’s natural, we know that.

“Some weeks the results will go for us, some weeks they won’t. I have to say the players have been very focused though – training has been excellent the last few weeks.

“I think it’s more important to concentrate on our own job.

“We know from now until the end of the season that with the amount of games that are coming up, there will be changes in the Championship.

“We’ve just got to make sure that we are ready for each game and give as good an account of ourselves as we have done, and it will take care of itself.

“To have everyone fit gives you competition for places, and there are a lot of games coming up and we’re very pleased with the quality of the squad we’ve got.

“We’ve not got a massive squad compared to Championship standards, but we’re very pleased with the quality, and I think we’ll need everyone for this run.

“It’s been very pleasing over the last few days to get everyone back. Injuries you have to deal with, it’s part and parcel of football, but it’s always nice to have the fully fit squad to choose from.”

It's all well and good having a fully fit squad, but you need a squad fully in form. In recent weeks there's been too many fringe players and a few 1st teamers who have been off the boil.

That's less of a problem if you're just playing one, with the last two games there were too many covering players in the team and that upsets the built up rhythm and team work.
