ScouseFox Posted 14 March 2013 Posted 14 March 2013 Yer I like a bet. Horses, football and darts really. Paid for my holiday last year and for Leeds Festival too. I'd say I'm at least 400 quid up on the bookies since I started. Quite a lot of time and some would say effort goes into it though, mainly the horses, but I don't see it as time and effort because I enjoy reading/watching/listening to others talk about horses and races. I liked horses before I liked gambling. When I turned 18 I just thought why not, I always used to think I reckoned I knew enough to make a bit of booze money etc and turns out I was right. If anyone said do you want to try and make a bit of money out of something you know about and have a big interest in then you'd say yes. Rarely more than a fiver or tenner a race/bet/accy though. I've always vowed to close my Betfair account the moment I've deposited more than I've withdrawn. Luckily not even close to that yet. Betfair is definitely the best way to bet, too. Better odds, can lay as soon as it's looking likely and guarantee a profit. Easy.
Ozwin Posted 15 March 2013 Posted 15 March 2013 I spend my dole money on £1 accumulators that never come off and post about them on another teams' message board cos they kicked me off my one.

Raj Posted 15 March 2013 Posted 15 March 2013 In the past I would occasionally put money on football games, but I stopped doing that years ago, and now I don't do anything like that or anything else that could be considered 'gambling' I just do the lottery ( £3 a week) and a yearly bet on the Grand National . I can't see anything in gambling really, especially fruit machines etc Same with me on both. Used to compete with my bro on the fixed odds every weekend...He died, never bothered again, only do Lotto and National like Zingari. Big gamblers at my work...Always spout on when they win loads of cash....never hear owt when they lose....Love to know if they are in the red or black over the years!!!
BoneDog Posted 15 March 2013 Posted 15 March 2013 I started a gambling career a few months back. Went mental the other week on Spurs v Arsenal. Had every possible score covered from 2-2 upwards using my whole stack. Had all possible scores from 2-2 to 4-4 and then thought 'what if one of them scores 5' so backed both to score 5+ aswell I thought 'there's no way these two aren't going to score at least two each today' but it ended up 2-1. Would have been more sensible putting my whole stack on over 2.5 goals but the odds were rubbish and I wanted glory. Gone back to gardening a couple of hundred quid down. Will probably reload £10 though cos I'm already itching to go again. I like playing poker for money but it's very time consuming and repetitive at low stakes if you want to make any kind of profit worth writing home about.
