Do you do any type of gambling for money ?

In the past I would occasionally put money on football games, but I stopped doing that years ago, and now I don't do anything like that or anything else that could be considered 'gambling'

I just do the lottery ( £3 a week) and a yearly bet on the Grand National .

I can't see anything in gambling really, especially fruit machines etc

Yeah I think I'm gonna open a betfair account. I like the idea of there cash out service aswell. Would sort me right out because I always get done by one team or late goals

I enjoy playing poker and started playing it for money online and generally won more than I lost, but the only way is to be cautious, to make it more exciting you need to up the stakes and take more risks, then I realised it was a bit daft, now only play with my mates, so I'm not too fussed about handing over a tenner to a mate, and it is more for bragging rights.

Im partial to sticking some kind of football acca on on a Saturday afternoon to add a bit of excitement to Soccer Saturday. Kills a couple of hours. Always ends the same though. Optimism at the start, looking good at half time and some team always lets me down towards the end. But still, its a fiver a week and sometimes I win a couple of hundred (maybe two or three times as season at best)

Totally agree. It's not a viable profit making scheme. Just do it for fun and bet whatever u can afford to lose whether it be 10p or more.

i tend to stick to the horses, been let down by football far to much. I do it to make things more exciting and if i win thats a bonus. Not a lot for me beats the buzz of a horse winning! I used to also be the lad in the group that was always playing on the fruit machines in the pub. I dont play them any more really 50p to a £1 for 1 spin isnt in my interest. I play the Lottery Wednesdays and Saturdays via the internet and it is a direct debit, i actually dont even no what numbers i have so if i ever want to give it up i can without then realising i could of won etc!

I was making a very nice 2nd income for about 6 months until things went tits up and I lost £1000's....thankfully it didnt affect me too much I had the earnings to cover the losses but I can totally understand how people get themselves into a deep hole trying to claw it back.

depends what you do.. i made over a grand from matched betting and that was guaranteed to win ( apart from user error that is) .

I'll bet £5-10 a race if I am at the races. Hardly ever been in a bookies, not interested*. Also find off course betting not much fun. See not fun in betting on football to be honest.

On the odd occasion I'm at the races I'll bet on all the races. I occasionally bet on football but very rarely. Last day of the season I'll always have a punt. The odd accumulator here and there maybe for shits and giggles. It's rare though.

I'm still dining out on the 25 quid I put into my Sky Bet account initially back in November 2011. If I've put anything more in it'd be a maximum of the same again.

I like a 5p accumulator that always makes watching Sir Jeff on a saturday more interesting. Other than that I'll throw a few quid on a few horses at Cheltenham and have a quid on the National.

Yep, pretty much my approach, though I only do it occasionally. Usually put on a series of small-stakes football accumulators that give me the chance of a run for my money - then just enjoy the added amusement, working on the assumption that I won't win, so every win is a bonus (and I'd say that I nearly break even overall).

I particularly like accumulators on World Cup qualifiers, as more of the matches are easy to call. So, you can put on a series of small-stake accumulators each with 5-12 matches - short odds for most of them, but chuck in 1 or 2 reasonable hunches on medium odds and you can be quite close to big winnings for small stakes.

It can get quite exciting. I remember, about 4 years ago, putting on four £5 accumulators, each covering about 12 World Cup qualifiers, taking place all around the world throughout the day and night. 3 fell quickly, but with the 4th the first 10 matches came in. I was left just needing Venezuela to win at home to Paraguay & Cambridge Utd to gain an expected win the next day. I'd have had £2000 winnings on a £5 stake. I was sat up in front of my computer at 3am getting a live commentary on the South American qualifier! Unfortunately, the Venezuelan captain was sent off and they went down 1-2....probably just as well, because the Cambridge match, for which they were favourites, was televised and they conceded an equaliser in the last 10 mins...I'd have been going mental if that one had cost me £2000!

My most enjoyable win dates back to 2003-04 and was for a pre-season bet: back in August, I stuck £2 on Leedscum to be relegated at 35-1.....did I enjoy picking up my £70 at the season end!?! Sweetened the pill of LCFC going down same season.

How much time did you spend following this guaranteed system? The only ones I've seen that are 'guaranteed' require a fair amount of time and very small rewards.

You can make money out of it of course, some people make careers off it if they've got a system.

It's not a guarantee but it's not much different to the stock market if you do it right.

Ive got a bet still live for this season which one week I think might happen, other weeks it wont happen and sometimes I dont even WANT it to happen.

I put 20 quid on Coventry being promoted via any means at 20/1 just after Robins took over and they were in the bottom 6 at the time.

I put £2 on football, whenever I don't go to our games. So, that's like once (twice with mid week games) every two weeks or so. Might put a few quid in the roulette machine whenever I go into bet on the football, but starting to do it less now as I know the machines are fixed... Example, last week, I put £1 on 22 (black number), it came out red. Then put £1 on red, and 22 came out!

I only play a couple of quid a week, but I am trying to give it up. The 'entertainment' of putting a couple of quid on and watching the scores/goals come in, as well as my flatmates playing, always gets me back. And the thought of 'easy money'.

There's only one winner though, and sadly, it's never me!

(Most I've ever won is £182.00 from £2).
