Some of the talk on here is embarrassing. So because a 19 year old who can afford a Merc buys a Merc all of a sudden he's lazy, unprofessional and only in it for the money? Perfect example of people knowing jack shit, adding 2+2 and getting 5. They are all late teens and early 20s it's normal for them to go out and socialise should they lock themselves away because they are footballers? It's the same in any job, the majority are good people but some are arrogant twats. Shouldn't generalise about our development team when you don't know them as individuals.

CJ,

Surely it's not a lot to ask though that a team of paid professionals to beat a Saturday League team? They should be well capable of that as a group by the age of 18-20 if they harbour aspirations of being professionals let alone professionals at a high level. I'm not trying to criticise for the sake of it but with the record of our youth development it's worrying.

Every club in the World should focus on bringing as many youth players into the side as possible and going on the last ten years something behind the scenes at this club is falling far short of the standard required.

When Heskey burst into the side we felt the excitement  you only get from a local boy coming in, not one since has looked like being a Premier League player for any sort of time and that's a cause for concern. (Probably Stef Oakes. he performed at the highest level for a few months)

Judging by the replies, most people are jumping to conclusions and did not go.

I did, so to sum up:

Thought Taft played well actually, didn't make any mistakes, got a good positional sense and read the game well.  Stood out for me.

lol You must be joking, got turned inside out for the first goal, didn't even look comfortable in the air which you would think would be his strongest attribute, turns like an oil tanker, infact he's probably slower than an oil tanker.

The only ones that stood out were Sesay and number 4, think he was the one that scored the goal?

Think a few understimate the level Coalville play at though, it isn't some pub level they're semi pros and get paid to pay, granted nowhere near as much as the like of Taft, Blyth and Futacs are on but they're not exactly amatuers who just meet on a Saturday turning up pissed, they probably train a couple of times a week.

A final point I think the reason we do so well at youth levels is the physicality of the players, we seem to have a lot of 6ft plus players who are not exactly technically gifted but will just bully the opposition at that age, by the time they turn 19 and 20 the game becomes a lot more than just about how big you are, that's the age a lot of our academy lads seem to fade away.

I think this is bang on. Pace, Strength, Athleticism ahead of actual footballing ability.
