Uncle Albert Posted 16 September 2013 Posted 16 September 2013 David Moyes can hardly condone it after the little bitch fest he had towards Suarez last season, which lead to that Suarez celebration!
Jimothy Posted 17 September 2013 Posted 17 September 2013 David Moyes can hardly condone it after the little bitch fest he had towards Suarez last season, which lead to that Suarez celebration! Didn't he fine Phil Neville for diving last year? So he's hardy got a history of condoning the behaviour anyway. Seems to me like a manager who will criticise diving whether its his player or the opposition.

Phil Neville got booked for diving in that Merseyside Derby where beforehand Moyes was slating Suarez, so even if he did fine Neville, it would again to be save face.

Moyes has been pretty consistent in his views towards diving. And from what I've seen his gone out of his way to criticize Young not condone what he did.........

MrSpaM Posted 17 September 2013 Posted 17 September 2013 If somebody is cheating they should be sent off the pitch and recieve a lenghly ban, just like every other sport.
Alf Bentley Posted 17 September 2013 Posted 17 September 2013 I'd be against it because of the pressure it puts on the referee to make an instant decision on something that's not always obvious on the pitch at the time, especially seeing as a red card has a major influence on games. However, I would advocate retrospective action where a panel look at incidents that could be deemed to be a dive and then apply a penalty - whether that be a ban for the offending player, or a substantial fine for the club - if they see fit. Agree with this. Can see it creating a lot of controversial incidents if there are red cards for diving: players sent off when they've gone down a bit dramatically, but have been fouled, or refs who might have been confident enough to give a yellow letting a diver off because they're not 100% sure and don't want to take such a big step. Heavy punishments afterwards for player and club (if player or club are repeat offenders), based on conclusive video evidence, sounds like a good idea.

All red cards are down to ref's opinion. Should we just ban all red cards and wait til after the match for punishments?

Still think a red card for a professional foul, a two footed lunge, violent conduct etc are much easier to be 100% sure about and confident than giving a red card for a dive. Would have to be retrospective IMO
Uncle Albert Posted 17 September 2013 Posted 17 September 2013 You can't send players off for diving, simple as that really and that rule would never be brought into place.

Knowing what is a dive and what isnt is almost impossible at high speed with one look unless its absolutely utterly blatant and the utterly blatant dive can be punished with a yellow or retrospectively
Kitchandro Posted 17 September 2013 Posted 17 September 2013 Agreed. Knowing what is a dive and what isnt is almost impossible at high speed with one look unless its absolutely utterly blatant and the utterly blatant dive can be punished with a yellow or retrospectively I disagree. The trick is to look for the actual contact, not how the player falls over. At the weekend I saw it numerous times. It's so obvious when players are buying free kicks. It's only the ref who is foolish enough to fall for it all the while. By your logic giving penalties is just as hard.
Guest MattP Posted 17 September 2013 Posted 17 September 2013 Easy enough for me. Look at afterwards, if a panel believe he has dived then give him a three game ban, should soon put a stop to it. You won't any one of the top 4 supporting this though as they are the ones who benefit from it, so don't expect anything to happen.

It cant be that obvious if the best officials in the country are ''foolish'' enough to be ''sold'' these free kicks. Dont make the argument off topic and stupid by suggesting referees are rubbish and that you could do better because you couldnt, and you arent.
