Mad Dog Posted 21 August 2004 Posted 21 August 2004 I won't even read the other threads on the game because of the number of brainless comments I know there will be, but think about this for a second. If your heros Connolly & Williams hadn't missed 3 of the easiest chances they will ever get, we'd have thrashed them 3-0 and nobody would give a shit. Here's my player ratings. Walker - 8 - We are so lucky to have him, more than Premiership standard. If you critisise his distribution, did you see their keeper today? Haha Heath - 6 - Didn't play too badly. Average. Keown - 6 - Again I thought he was alright. Dabizas - 7 - Again was very good. Lucky to have him! Tiatto - 6 - Will be a good performer at left back this season. Vast improvement on Stewart/Wilcox. Wilcox - 5 - Well, I tried to argue for him all this time, but fine, I give up. He's shit. Lets hope he gets injured soon. Williams - 4 - Shit once again. He's been rubbish every game this season. I bet in the other threads you're all wanking over him though. Nalis puts him to shame. Gudjonnson - 4 - Made to look a willy puller by Gemmil. Very poor all round, I hope he improves. Canero - 5 - Spurned a good chance early doors, and didn't seem that good. Worse than Scowcroft on the right wing. Much prefered him at right back. Scowcroft - 5 - Useless upfront. Worse than Blake. Looked quite handy on the right wing until he got injured. Connolly - 5 - Poor. He doesn't link up well with his teammates at all which is fine, if he scored goals. He's missed two absolutely ridiculously easy chances today and hit the post twice, missed a penno last week - we're waiting for goals Conners. Gemmil - 7 - Was our best player when he game on. Warrents a starting place alongside Nalis probably. Benjamin - 6 - Won quite a flew flick ons, made us look much more dangerous bizarrely. Stewart - 6 - Sloppy but looked lively. Marked improvement over Wilcox.
Ricey Posted 21 August 2004 Posted 21 August 2004 Williams has been very poor so far from what I've heared and seen. Baffles me why Micky picked him ahead of Nalis who has been great!
Mark Posted 21 August 2004 Posted 21 August 2004 Agree with most of that. Read my views on Williams im sure you'll agree on that Gudjonsson wasnt that bad, but got took off instead of Williams which was a tradegy but a typical Micky decision as i predicted it before Gemmill came on
Mad Dog Posted 21 August 2004 Author Posted 21 August 2004 I couldn't tell with Gudjonsson really I may be being a bit harsh on him. Just seemed like we may aswell have not had any central midfielders until Gemmil came on. We looked pathetic really. But again, if Connolly & Williams hadn't missed those near open goal chances we'd have thrashed them and we'd all be happy!

I wasn't there, we didn't score and they did.

He was terrible. He can't pass his size let him down on several occaisions and he shoots when we need him to keep the ball. I think I would start with Nalis and Gemmill.
Sparky Posted 21 August 2004 Posted 21 August 2004 i was really looking forwars to seeing joey start but im afraid that on todays evidence he dont warrent a starting place

As for his size, he was winning more headers than Williams who is almost as tall as Heath and he seems to have pace, he was getting down the wings a bit and putting in a few balls. I wouldn't disagree with starting Nalis and Gemmill but I also wouldn't write Joey off yet.

If players shot when the idiots in the crowd screamed for them to do so then we would lose every week. This week for example. Dabizas 35 yards out on his left foot, 3 players available in the box. Shooting seems a good idea to me!!! Gudjohnssons shot which went over today was from 45 yards, ridiculous crowd appeassing decision. He didn't win a cointested header all game and let a coupelk bounce straight over him. If we are going to compare competitivism with Williams then Lillian Nalis is the new Paul Dickov!!
Guest freund Posted 21 August 2004 Posted 21 August 2004 heath at right back, what a stroke of inspirtion how did tiatto play in his first game?

Scow Posted 22 August 2004 Posted 22 August 2004 Our left side is very worrying if we have to pick either Stewart or Wilcox to play With Tiatto.... So when Tiatto get's sent off, oh dear.
