3G Pitches in the Football League Structure

Once again I think you're thinking of the quality of 3G pitches the likes of 'goals' might have. This is one of the most advanced in the world with a 2 star rating from FIFA.

Does the one you play on have a 2 star rating from FIFA? I've regularly see players slide in on this, in fact last weeks game against Loughborough was feisty with a number of challenges of this sort. No ill effects noted.

No he's right the one we play on is top class as well and you can slide on it fine.

I have played on some of the local ones (so not gonna be top quality) and only thing I have noticed is it seems to be easy to get studs caught in it, which has led to some quite nasty injuries I've seen (ligaments and tendons twisted etc.) - on grass there would have just been a big chunk of ground missing instead.

Obviously there's no substitute for a pristine grass pitch, but I'd much rather play on a 3G pitch than some of the poorly maintained quagmires you see at certain grounds in the Football League. There's nothing worse than playing on a shit pitch, having the ball bobble up into your shins every time you go to take a touch.

I love playing on 3G pitches and I think it is the way forward for grass roots as well as lower leagues but it isnt like playing on a grass pitch. Try a decent slide tackle on this and it rips your legs to shreds, plus them plastic pellets that you find down your pants four weeks later are a bit of a pain.

I do tend to twist my ankle a fair bit on these pitches but I'm not sure I wouldn't on a grass pitch.

Seriously I watch Maidstone quite often and it must be different to the 3G pitches we've played on before as they throw themselves in all over the place. Tune in to BT sport now and just watch Maidstone's two full backs and the pair in the middle of the park. They love a slide.

Got it on now, look how high their socks are pulled up and I guess thats why they are sliding in.

Good goal!
