Player of the month (no danny drinkwater?)

TBF, Makelele has always got loads of credit for playing a very easy position.

If you're not expected to score, play killer passes, or even take the main responsibility for keeping goals out then it's not that hard to perfect that role.

Drinkwater has impressed me this season because he's been willing to pass it forward more often and take control of matches himself. He's still misplaced passes, but he's also found some great ones because he's tried to more often.

Fallen into a trap there. It is a difficult position to play, thats why so few consistently do it well. reading of the game and concentration are paramount, that comes with experience. Didier Deschamp was hugely influential in that position before Claude.

Reading the game is easy, it's just most footballers are fvcking retards.

What's hard is having the technique and talent to find a pass, find the top corner, or to skin someone.

Of course some defensive midfielders can do these extras, but there are plenty of sideways passing, tough tackling thugs who have been called great footballers.

Look at Essien, he's just a shit thug, but look how everyone bummed him. And Mikel has made a career in the top flight and he's an absolutely terrible player.

I don't understand why people complain about this saying "they probably don't watch out games" .etc. We can't make the same judgement either if Drinkwater deserves to be above any of those four because we don't watch them week in week out.

They base their nominations on stats like goals, assists and clean sheets. Drinkwater doesn't score many, doesn't create many but is in control of games by good tackling, distribution and keeping the team in shape.

It won't win any of these prixes but it's so valuable to the team.
