Cincinnati Fox Posted 7 November 2013 Posted 7 November 2013 Albert Adomah (Middlesbrough) Adomah has been in superb form for Boro and popped up all over the front line in October, linking well with Kei Kamara and scoring two headers among his five goals. His best strike was an imaginatively deft lobbed finish in the 4-0 win over Doncaster Rovers. Emerson Boyce (Wigan Athletic) A key figure as a leader, Boyce's energetic displays were pivotal in Wigan conceding just two goals in four games. Always willing to cover and lead by example, he also glanced home a last-minute winner in the 2-1 derby win over Blackburn Rovers. Danny Ings (Burnley) It was a month to remember for the young forward. As well as making his England Under-21 debut, his dynamic and hard-working front play was rewarded with three goals, including both in the vital 2-0 win over top-of-the-table rivals Queens Park Rangers. Henri Lansbury (Nottingham Forest) A player growing in maturity and influence, Lansbury's class shone through in midfield for Forest. More vocal and disciplined in a holding role, he chose perfectly his moments to go forward with superb strikes against Brighton & Hove Albion and Bournemouth in his three goals.
Bayfox Posted 7 November 2013 Posted 7 November 2013 If i'm being honest, Good, means what he has been doing has gone under the radar, i personally had him written off after the transfer rumours in the summer and his issues with fans and to be fair until he got sent off i had james up there as player of the season so far, but DD has taken his chance and not let anyone get a shout of getting back in the side ahead of him. But if others aren't noticing then i'll take that at the minute.
Danno Posted 7 November 2013 Posted 7 November 2013 Wtf. He's better than all these no mark championship players. Their names don't even deserve to be mentioned on here.

Banks Posted 7 November 2013 Posted 7 November 2013 Lansbury isn't shit, very good player. But we all know Drinkwater has been playing brilliantly this season. Don't mind if he doesn't get the recognition he deserves at the moment. The team need to maintain their form and we will get our rewards at the end of the season.
joelmurray Posted 7 November 2013 Posted 7 November 2013 Apparently you have to have scored to be a Player of the Month.
Fox92 Posted 7 November 2013 Posted 7 November 2013 I'm sure people just go on goals. The people that do the hard work never seem to get credit, in all walks of life... I mean, Lampard scored all those goals for Chelsea, but how much credit does Makelele get?
Kitchandro Posted 7 November 2013 Posted 7 November 2013 The people who decide this won't have watched any of our games, so they are just going on who's scored from the highlights.
cambridgefox Posted 7 November 2013 Posted 7 November 2013 I was reading someones paper at work last monday Sun/ mirror and they gave Drinkwater 6 out of 10, I was thinking what game were they watching.so I don't tend to take any notice of these so called pros opinions.Let us see our players and the team play well and I don't give a fook what others think.

Dan Posted 7 November 2013 Posted 7 November 2013 Pointless awards like this mean nothing really. I can guarantee he'll be happier that most of that list come May.

I've noticed this. I don't understand as the reporter was clearly at the game but he then goes and gives really off ratings.

To be fair I think most people with an understanding of the game give makelele the credit he deserves for his role in that team.

Are you sure that they attend the games? A work colleague used to write up Plymouth reviews for a paper, he listened on the radio when the weather was crap.

They gave Schmiechel MOTM which is the most blatant evidence that they watched the highlights and nothing else. Completely unprofessional.

I guess I'm not sure, I assume for the big papers they have someone at the game surely?
Freeman's Wharfer Posted 7 November 2013 Posted 7 November 2013 I'm sure people just go on goals. The people that do the hard work never seem to get credit, in all walks of life... I mean, Lampard scored all those goals for Chelsea, but how much credit does Makelele get? It's the way it is in football. All the way down to youth level where the top scorers get trophies whilst defenders get nothing and most often strikers are the ones picked up by clubs who then turn them into midfielders or defenders... There can't have been many than Drinkwater this month (and that includes in the cup as well) but everyone knows these awards are worth nothing. I doubt he'll even be bothered in all honesty.

foxfanazer Posted 7 November 2013 Posted 7 November 2013 No big deal I suppose but it just proves how flawed these awards are. 3 or 4 of our players could've been in this. Dyer, drinkwater, vardy etc
svensson Posted 7 November 2013 Posted 7 November 2013 I guess I'm not sure, I assume for the big papers they have someone at the game surely? Me neither, you would hope so, but as other posters have mentioned some of the ratings are mind boggling.

I mean, Lampard scored all those goals for Chelsea, but how much credit does Makelele get? He got an actual position on the pitch named after him. That's quite a lot of credit.
Fox92 Posted 7 November 2013 Posted 7 November 2013 True, but I couldn't think of another example.... Freeman's Wharfer says it how I meant it.
Kitchandro Posted 7 November 2013 Posted 7 November 2013 TBF, Makelele has always got loads of credit for playing a very easy position. If you're not expected to score, play killer passes, or even take the main responsibility for keeping goals out then it's not that hard to perfect that role. Drinkwater has impressed me this season because he's been willing to pass it forward more often and take control of matches himself. He's still misplaced passes, but he's also found some great ones because he's tried to more often.
