deep blue Posted 5 January 2014 Posted 5 January 2014 Not being rude by calling others that say yesterday was a creditable performance deluded, maybe delusional would have been a better choice of word. It wasn't a creditable performance. We were beaten and beaten easily by a team that didn't need to go up a notch to do it. A creditable performance would have been a win or a draw. Lets hope if we go up, we get the benefit of first season syndrome with the momentum. If you don't think that the closeness of the score is a valid indicator of the game, how about the attempts on goal: 14 by Stoke, 12 by us; each had 5 on target. That doesn't give me the impression that there was a hugely distance between the sides in the areas that mattered. It's also worth noting that Hughes singled out Butland for special praise; wonder why.
Haydos Posted 5 January 2014 Posted 5 January 2014 This is just a bit of a myth though. There is no scientific reason why you should get more tired as the season goes on, you should in fact get more fit. Injuries are also just as likely to plague us at the start of the season as the end. Stop just spouting your bullshit opinions like they're fact. This is after literally 1 search on google.... http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2013/05/130531105506.htm

Injuries are also just as likely to plague us at the start of the season as the end. There's also no scientific reason why players can't play mid week and at the weekend without any ill effects, unless they're not fit. These are merely excuses players and managers use which the public have bought into. Stop just spouting your bullshit opinions like they're fact. This is after literally 1 search on google.... http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2013/05/130531105506.htm Wow I've only just seen this post. From being involved in Sport Science the only thing I can say is this ignorance hurts my brain.
Haydos Posted 5 January 2014 Posted 5 January 2014 Wow I've only just seen this post. From being involved in Sport Science the only thing I can say is this ignorance hurts my brain. I thought he was joking at first. I assume he'll try and argue it like he usually does as well. I'm pretty sure the millions of athletes, coaches and scientists would have something to say about fatigue
Guest Bilo Posted 5 January 2014 Posted 5 January 2014 I can't decide if you are just being obtuse, or you are on the wind up. I will repeat again, our starting line up yesterday was missing 5 of our regular starters, and what most would consider our better players. Those players being in the starting 11 alone would improve the team. If we went up, we will buy players to improve the team and the squad without a doubt, the Thais would not pump £100m + into the club to get to the premier league, and then not invest when we got there. It might not be ridiculous amounts, but the team will be improved. As the person above pointed out, the teams promoted all had around 6+ new players in their squads yesterday. If we followed a similar route, and only started half the new signings, the team could potentially have 8 players starting differently to yesterday. And we also wouldn't be going into the game not particularly being bothered about it should it be a league game. So no, it is not an indication of anything. Formidable1 can now consider himself to have been educated. Spot on, Babs.
C.J Posted 5 January 2014 Posted 5 January 2014 So there were 12,500 Stoke fans there yesterday, you sure they wernt counting the Stewards as well? Must of been 500 of them easy, never seen so many in my life at a game. And a sniffer dog as well, somebody still managed to get a smoke bomb in though! Whoever that was, kudos to you.
