Bloody hell....will have to go rooting through my programme collection! Actually went to that game and have the prog somewhere, autographed by some of the 'old boys'! Only memory is that it ended as a 5-5 draw!

blimey you've got a good memory  :D i have a job remembering the scores from this season .

Got towed along as a 12 year old by my dad, who'd watched City when most of the 'ex' players were in their prime. Think I recall they were 4-1 up at one point....probably ran out of steam:-)

can you remember where was the game played ?

i used to go in the pool club around that time and i don't remember it at all  :)

Bloody hell, is that what age does to you! No wonder I've thrown away the mirrors! Can't help much but back row second left looks like centre-forward Jimmy Walsh and fifth left outstanding left-winger Derek Hogg. And is that Howard Riley front right I ought to know them all but was playing myself most of the time during that period.  Albert Cheeseborough,Graham Cross and David Nish might be in there too but I can't be sure.

Hogg is in there , Riley isn't , but Cross and Nish were still playing in 68 . These chaps were former players in 68.

The answers are now on the facebook page but i thought i'd let some of the seniors on here  have a dig around the memory bank  :)

EDIT ;

one of these players scored a goal in the fa cup semi final win against Pompey in '49 ( along with don revie who got 2 more)

Judging from the Len Chalmers topic I reckon there's quite a few oldies on here now. I'm not a good yardstick for this as I didn't start going down Filbo until I was 15 with no Dad to take me I went with my brother who is just a year older.

i was only joking .but it was really a compliment  that you and he are so knowledgeable about the club  :)

i've just looked at wiki and i think six of those players played in the 1949 cup final , and of course Walsh played in the1961 final.

it's actually quite a good turnout by the former players really .

That can't be right Tony, this was taken in 1968. Nish and Cross were still playing for Leicester and quite young to boot. These guys look like they are from 50's.

Jon Sjoberg and Mike Stringfellow possibly?

Sjoberg and Stringfellow were still playing in the 70's

I've been going to filbert street since 1961 age 7.

I cant remember them playing in black n white, when I started to watch them they played in colour....

Seriously tho...and I cant remember who they played, I believe it was against a Notts County ol boys.

This group I seen play in a charity game when I was on holiday, and they were the first city autographs

I had. Although not on this photo I also had Albert Cheesbrough, which I was quite proud of.

The first playing players, I was able to get was that of G.Banks, G.Cross, J.Sjoberg, Ian King, K.Keyworth, M.Stringfellow, and D.Gibson.with Mat gillies. Gordon Banks ! Whos autograph was considered difficult to get, gave me his, when I met him near the weir at Abbey Park, I didnt really ask for it, but he had dropped something, and I picked it up and said 'here you sir, oh hello Mr Banks'

He told me cos I wasnt pushy he would be happy to give me his autograph. My one and only autograph on a plastic football.

Cross, Sjoberg, Stringfellow's I got more times in different eras. All my autographs I was given were while away from the ground,

From squads or individual players from 1961 upto 1974. I passed them on them to a women at charity meet, who was looking

For city and tigers paraphernalia to create a filbert street and welford road sport museum of some sorts.

You're right Smudge . i think 5 or 6 of this team played in the 1949 FA Cup Final that lost 3-1  to Wolves .
