Other than that it's as safe as anywhere. It's also a nice place to live. Oh, and Pompey's the biggest sh.ithole in the south.

I didn't see the programme myself but as someone who travels round the country a lot into some of the less celubrious parts of town, it can be bad. Mind you, Hullfox Towers is very nice.

Thracian Posted 11 August 2005 Posted 11 August 2005 Have any of you tried a seaside town in winter. Particularly a Welsh seaside town. The country closes after dark. There's no-one around. It's hard even to get a meal. Colwyn Bay, it was. With no alternative, entertainment wise, we went to the pictures - probably the last remaining 1930's art deco cinema still showing films. We got there half an hour early, sat down, and there wasn't another soul to be seen. Ten minutes later a youngist couple showed up and sat at the back, making four of us in total. Another 10 minutes and the couple got up cos it turned out they were the projectionists. Amazingly, the film was great, but when we left the place at 9-00 there was no chance of getting a meal. Give me cities like Leicester and, yes, Nottingham any time. Football aside the place is great with loads to do, loads of good pubs, plenty of good music, theatres, loads of nice parks, river walks, the lot. How anyone could seriously put Nottingham down as the second worst place to live has obviously never lived there and bracketing it with Hull. Well visit Hull and decide.

There isnt much crime there either and if there is its probably from outsiders.

Like I said earlier, it's a lovely place, but when you're only visiting for lunch, and it's taken longer to drive down the A439 to the in-laws house as it did to get from Leicester to that junction on the A46, you end up cursing the place!
