TAFKA Castroneves Posted 11 August 2005 Share Posted 11 August 2005 I'd go with Elvis, looked good against Stoke when he came on down the right. Otherwise maybe stick Maybury up there with Stearman at RB? But Elvis first for me, let him have a crack after his good start at Stoke.
Frenzied Posted 11 August 2005 Share Posted 11 August 2005 Let''s hope the Williams injury isn't too serious - we'd be well and truly fcuked without him also.
C-man Posted 11 August 2005 Share Posted 11 August 2005 Levi Porter
Anish Posted 11 August 2005 Share Posted 11 August 2005 I'd push Maybury up to right midfield and play Stearman at RB. This situation had been raised by many of us (including me) when Canero was released - it meant we only had Sylla who could play right midfield and if he got injured (like he has done now) we would be screwed. Let's hope Levein's hastiness does not prove costly.
Bluefoxtim Posted 11 August 2005 Share Posted 11 August 2005 Maybury right mid??? That wouldnt be good, dont play your best players out of position
Libertine Posted 11 August 2005 Share Posted 11 August 2005 But he's just as good going forward..... Not sure.
Bluefoxtim Posted 11 August 2005 Share Posted 11 August 2005 No he isnt. He is a right back not right midfielder, put one person out of position everyone else has to move around as well
Libertine Posted 11 August 2005 Share Posted 11 August 2005 Only Stearman would have to come in for him so that isn't everyone moving about. And some would argue that Maybury is maybe better going forward than defensively.
A_long_time_fox Posted 11 August 2005 Share Posted 11 August 2005 What about playing Stearman right mid? He looked good going forward against Sheff Utd, he's got good energy and seems pretty talented - that way Maybury can stay at right back and the defence get a chance to play together again rather than more chopping and changing - and looking at the way they played in spells against Sheff Utd and Stoke they need all the time they can get playing together!! I thought Elvis did look good against Stoke but I don't know if his fitness is quite up to it, he seemed to be knackered after a couple of times up and down the pitch! rossporterlc Posted 11 August 2005 Share Posted 11 August 2005 elvis, goes out on the attack but did alright covering back too, lets go for the win!
ferry jambo Posted 11 August 2005 Share Posted 11 August 2005 expect to see joe hamill on the right! revel in leveins right footed left winger tactic. It would work but hamill cant beat a man without losing it!
Anish Posted 11 August 2005 Share Posted 11 August 2005 Maybury right mid???That wouldnt be good, dont play your best players out of position 154944[/snapback] Easier said than done We don't have any other right midfielders in the squad (apart from Porter, who has not even played a competitive game for us) so whoever we play there - be it Stearman, Elvis etc - they will be playing out of position. Even if we had Williams or Hughes available to play wide midfield, they would still be playing 'out of position'.
City_4_Life Posted 11 August 2005 Share Posted 11 August 2005 I would say play Elvis there he looks like a pacey skillfull player and he did good againts stoke playing on the right

Then the whole team has to shift around too compensate. So I say if someone gets injured dont play someone there who will leave a gap where they would have done better. I would rather Porter play than upset the balance on the rest of the team
Benji Posted 11 August 2005 Share Posted 11 August 2005 give elvis a chance on the right, i thought sylla had a decent start on tuesday but went a bit quiet, not as good as previous games
Scow Posted 11 August 2005 Share Posted 11 August 2005 It looks likely to be Elvis on the right then. Stearman can play there because he is obviously very talented, but Levein replaced Sylla with Elvis, so I'll go with that.
Ricey Posted 12 August 2005 Share Posted 12 August 2005 Massive blow for us having Sylla out, however Hammond sounded a handful against Stoke and I think we need his pace.
