Guesty Posted 28 March 2014 Posted 28 March 2014 I dunno how much everyone knows about the trading block under the league option. But if you're crowded at 1 position you can put the players you're willing to trade up and it makes it a bit easier so people have a better idea of which players to make a trade for. You can also say which positions you need which makes trading a lot easier. For example I have a lot of outfielders but need catchers, shortstop and pitching. But I won't be updating it yet until I see how the season starts - but it's just for future reference for those who don't know.
Beliall Posted 28 March 2014 Author Posted 28 March 2014 i have 4 catchers, make me an offer. in fact i just dropped alex avila pending matt kemp passing waivers
Beliall Posted 29 March 2014 Author Posted 29 March 2014 Plenty of players on bye up for grabs, offer up your worst players in trade, guaranteed acceptance.
Rincewind Posted 30 March 2014 Posted 30 March 2014 Not looked at it. wont let me do anything. I click trade and it comes uop with weeor. Think I have solved it. Thought I was logged in. i now have a list of players and can see the trades. I have a red cross alongside my one and only SS. does that mean he is injured?
Jordan Posted 31 March 2014 Posted 31 March 2014 I don't see that your shortstop is injured, but I do see that you have two pitchers on the disabled list. In our league, we have one spot for players on the disabled list, so you can move one of those pitchers to the "DL" spot and replace him with another player to fill your roster until that player gets healthy.
Beliall Posted 31 March 2014 Author Posted 31 March 2014 how the hell am i losing 5-0 to rincewind! i have no idea how this works
Jordan Posted 31 March 2014 Posted 31 March 2014 how the hell am i losing 5-0 to rincewind! i have no idea how this works It's a strange quirk in the scoring ! It's because head-to-head scoring works like Rotisserie, where you add up your totals in the 10 stat categories, and you'll get 1 point for each category you do better in than your opponent. So, if you have more runs, RBIs, HRs, wins, saves, and a better ERA, and your opponent tops you in batting average, stolen bases, strikeouts, and WHIP, then you win 6-4.Fear not, though: Ken only has points in 5 categories because he had one player that has put up stats, but it was Gyorko, who went 0-3 last night... So his zeroes in every category are "beating" you until one of your players plays today! P.S. Ken, you should fill in your extra utility player and starting pitcher spots with guys from your bench.
Beliall Posted 31 March 2014 Author Posted 31 March 2014 these next few weeks are going to be interesting

I was doing some swapping over but no idea what I was doing. How many should be in the team? are you supposed to have that many pitchers? Not looked at the scores so it would surprise me if i won any. According to my page i am losing (lost) 5-2
Beliall Posted 31 March 2014 Author Posted 31 March 2014 it updates live, nice touch, your only losing thanks to molinas dinger a few mins ago, when all our players complete their games we will know who won.
Rincewind Posted 31 March 2014 Posted 31 March 2014 Can we change while they are playing? How does it go from 5-2 to 6-1?
Beliall Posted 1 April 2014 Author Posted 1 April 2014 Because the games are still being played live. Click the link in my sig, it takes you to the help page.
Rincewind Posted 1 April 2014 Posted 1 April 2014 6-3 to the Wizards now. I've moved a couple of players around. The ones that were injured are at the bottom.
Beliall Posted 1 April 2014 Author Posted 1 April 2014 this is fun, i also have moved some players about. matt kemp is on the DL but also scheduled to play tonight, so i put him in OF
Rincewind Posted 1 April 2014 Posted 1 April 2014 The help link does not work. So the times next to the names are when they are playing? If they don't have a time have they already played? I am just a little confused with the abbreviations and how many are in the team. There seems to be a lot of pitchers.
Beliall Posted 1 April 2014 Author Posted 1 April 2014 during a game several pitchers can be used, starting pitcher would usually do at least 5 -7 innings, then relievers come in and pitch 1 or 2, before the closer pitches the last inning. i have selected 2 starters, and then the RP and P , honestly im still working it out, but try to keep active players in play (i set a new link, might work now) https://help.yahoo.com/kb/fantasy-baseball/play-yahoo-sports-fantasy-baseball-sln6802.html?impressions=true
Rincewind Posted 1 April 2014 Posted 1 April 2014 Thanks. I did watch it a few years back when I was doing nights and now remember they used several pitchers. Just tried out the trade with the bye team. Getting rid of my lower % players. Also tried to put all the players that have a game in the team. The ones that are injured are on the bench. They are playing according to the time. Don't know about all the stats. Will see what happens as it goes along. It goes on until September? May get used to it by then. Just noticed the % is the starting % not the form. At least I'll get a medal for a trade.
Beliall Posted 1 April 2014 Author Posted 1 April 2014 i dropped sizemore yesterday because of his low starting %, he hit a homer yesterday so play the players you want.
Jordan Posted 1 April 2014 Posted 1 April 2014 i dropped sizemore yesterday because of his low starting %, he hit a homer yesterday so play the players you want. The starting percentage is either the ratio of Yahoo managers that have the player and are starting him, or the ratio of Yahoo leagues where the player is a starter. I forgot which one it is, but either way, it's not a bad way to "crowd-source" your information on whether or not to start a player.Sizemore had a dream return to the big leagues yesterday. He was a fantastic player not long ago, but he's had an Owen Hargreaves-style bad run of injuries. The Sox and any fantasy manager that takes him are taking a big risk, but it has paid early dividends. I had a good opening day... The only downside was that Johnny Cueto didn't get the win despite pitching a gem of a game. My bats were alive--Salvador Perez went 4-for-4 and Mike Trout is already showing value for that huge contract extension he just signed by hitting a home run in his first at bat It's a loooooong season, though...
Beliall Posted 1 April 2014 Author Posted 1 April 2014 recording sox v orioles to watch after the utd game, sizemore is back in, matt kemp wont be activated till tomorrow it looks like, and i have to wait till next week to get rid of 2 injured players. scratch that, im gonna watch the sox and record manure
Rincewind Posted 2 April 2014 Posted 2 April 2014 I've sent a trade request to you. My catcher is ranked 166 but cannot find any on the market higher. You have two but I only want your lower ranked. If you want any other player I'll settle for that otherwise I'll trade another player for a pitcher and hope they improve. I have sorted my roster out but I have included two injured pitchers who are scheduled to play. I may look to trade them too. I hope I get used to it by September. I like the idea of a spare manager because I expect one or two may drop out or get bored so if anyone else wants to join in they can.
Beliall Posted 2 April 2014 Author Posted 2 April 2014 If you want a catcher I might trade saltalamaccia depending on who you have. Your not having molina though.
Rincewind Posted 2 April 2014 Posted 2 April 2014 If you want another player object to the trade. I have asked for your second one. Mine is also 1B I think I am waiting for some trades to take place as I am getting errors cuz I am picking the same players all the time to trade. What is the difference between orank and rank which should I go by when trading?
Jordan Posted 2 April 2014 Posted 2 April 2014 Ken, Here is the difference between "O-Rank" and Rank: https://help.yahoo.com/kb/fantasy-baseball/difference-rank-o-rank-sln6287.html?impressions=true I've got to say, though, Rincewind got rinsed by Matt in that trade. You gave up an MVP candidate in Bryce Harper along with Kenley Jansen, a reliever that was pretty much universally rated as one of the top 50 fantasy players in the preseason (he is a solid pitcher on he a legitimate World Series contending team, so he will get lots of opportunities to get saves*). In return, you got the Mets' #3 starter (Wheeler) and an above average 2nd baseman (Murphy). Now, Wheeler and Murphy aren't terrible players, and if you feel you desperately needed help at starting pitching and 2nd base, than maybe I can see where you're coming from, although I would not have made that trade if I were you. But you're very unlikely to get the same production you just gave up (and that's even made less likely because the Mets are terrible). In fact, I'll admit that I voted against the trade, but it looks like the rest of the league was cool with it. In what's essentially a 9-player league, there are easier ways to get help at those positions than by giving up what you sent to Matt because there are lots of good players up for grabs, and we should all have good (if not elite) players at every position. (* a simple definition of the "save" stat is that if a relief pitcher comes into the game late with his team holding a close lead, and he finishes the game while preserving the lead, the pitcher gets credited with a save.)
