I've got no idea why they didn't just fill the corners in at Molineux. They could have done one at a time to play it safe, it would have been cheaper and they wouldn't have had to knock any of the existing stands down.

When the planning went in though they were going to do the stand to the left and the one opposite the new one behind the other goal.

What they didn't expect was to drop two divisions in the mean time, so at some point the three stands should all connect up and that view won't exist. How long that is, is anyone's guess.
