MC Prussian Posted 26 August 2005 Posted 26 August 2005 As you may know, there has been a big controversy following Lush's "Muslim" thread in the General Chat section. Now it is deleted, but who knows whether he or somebody similar may come up with another one. I was just wondering how highly accepted that guy is, especially if people know him personally. As far as I know, his opinions are way too extreme and most regular members disagree completely with his personal views. Are the moderators keeping an eye on potentially "harmful" members like him? Just wanted to inquire...
Head Honcho Posted 26 August 2005 Posted 26 August 2005 I think the thread was allowed to continue for too long before it was removed. As for banning. I don't agree we live in a democracy with free speech and after all, these sites are all about opinion, you are not going to like everyones opinion, but at least give them the chance to voice it,and you will be free to disagree with it

But Lush has a very extreme tendency and has insulted ethnic and religious groups on here and I don't know whether "free speech" also applies to populists and generalists like him.
Thracian Posted 27 August 2005 Posted 27 August 2005 How long have the Muslim extremists been given to rant and rave against this country (which provides em with free housing improvements, lifesaving opportunities and God knows how much money per week) while ordinary working natives have ever more of their earnings stolen in stealth taxes to pay for all that?. Years and years and it really is taking the piss. Yet it is only since the bombings started and got a bit close for comfort that Grin-and-Blair-It finally decided to act (at least he said he's going to act). Is Lush entitled to the same innings do you think? Or are the Muslims suddenly finding it's not very pleasant to be on the receiving end of such vitriol cos, if they are, they'll know how we've been feeling since the fundamentalist clerics arrived on these shores with their unrelenting hatred and bullshit propaganda. Like I've said before, multiculturalism will never work unless there's REAL fairness but as usual it seems the Muslims always want to be treated more fairly than others (positive discrimination on jobs, their own schools, anti-racist measures that only work one way etc) For what it's worth, I don't see that the Muslim thread serves any useful purpose in what is generally an interesting, good humoured, well intended forum. Indeed the very word Muslim is inflamatory to some and I'd be happy never to read it again in these columns. But why didn't you voice your concern about the original thread (written by a Muslim) which was so obviously intended to incite? And why haven't you written anything on here insisting that the Muslim fundamentalist Merchants of Hate should be silenced in the wider world where they do far more harm than anyone on a football forum. Seems to me you can only see fault in certain directions.
Babylon Posted 27 August 2005 Posted 27 August 2005 Well said Thrac, gotta agree with all of that. Agreed.
