Sooper Steve's shin Posted 28 December 2014 Posted 28 December 2014 James, Wasilewski both fantastic today. I wouldn't have split up King and Drinkwater, but what do I know? That said, Cambiasso never really got into the game bar the odd spectacular long pass. Wasilewski has been our best defender last few games. I think Morgan gets a bit of unfair criticism, but he is becoming prone to the odd wobble. If Upson was fit and in form or we can get a quality CB in the window, he'd be the one I would drop. I'm not convinced Simpson is a massive improvement over De Laet or that Konch is as bad as some people say. We could certainly do with a left back if one becomes available though. Schlupp was great again first half - and second, in fact, but he was running on empty for the last 30. Still put in a shift. Leo didn't really fire, Nugent was neat and tidy, Wood was pretty wooden. Overall, not sure how we hung on for the last 30 but soon glad we did!
ADK Posted 28 December 2014 Posted 28 December 2014 Hamer 6 - Looked short of confidence and didn't come out for some crosses that he should have done, no errors this time though. Konch 5 - Was average until getting needlessly sent off which could have been costly. Morgan 6 - Average, he can't play football but he made no mistakes. Wasilevski 6 - Not amazing but continues to be consistent. Simpson 5 - Needs to work on his clearances, several of them were poor and could have cost us. Mahrez 7 - One moment of quality to win the match, understandably tired but did track back. James 5 - Looked tired and offers little else, we were overrun in middle all day. Cambiasso 6 - Made use of good positional awareness to help out defensively but we had no cover for his lack of pace. Schlupp 6 - Helped defend but also squandered a lot of possession not helped by our poor central midfield. Nugent 5 - Looked dead on his feet after 30 minutes, was amazed he played 90. Used his intelligence well though. Ulloa 5 - Didn't appear fit. Wood 6 - Provided a much needed outlet although he had absolutely no support. Drinkwater 5 - Was worse than Cambiasso without providing any energy. De Laet 5 - Failed to offer anything apart from another body on the line. Pearson 5 - For me he failed to make the right substitutions, Nugent and James should have been off with Hammond and Knockeart on. We had too many players tired and just needed fresh legs. Ref 5 - Thought he was whistle happy Hull 3 - They were poor which was fortunate for us. Clearly both teams were affected by the closeness of fixtures hence the ugliness of the performances, fortunately we got the luck we needed.
sdb Posted 28 December 2014 Posted 28 December 2014 8's for Hamer, Cambiasso and Schlupp. Aslo Mahrez, who, as always, only had 1 good 45...but we wouldn't have won without him. 5 for Konch, who is a liability, either with his ridiculous blind back passes or OTT, late challenges 6 for Ulloa and Wes who I thought was positionally suspect at times 7's for the rest. 4 for Hull - worst i've seen this year.
65RosesFox Posted 28 December 2014 Posted 28 December 2014 Cambiasso was instrumental today. Took control of the midfield and always found a Leicetser shirt with his passing. As soon as he went off we couldn't get hold of the ball.
Guest ttfn Posted 28 December 2014 Posted 28 December 2014 Just got back. Hamer 6 - Kicking is absolutely dire, like something out of Sunday League football. Other than that I thought he did ok, kept a clean sheet! Simpson 6 - He's definitely a better defender than de Laet but he's not much of a footballer. Wasyl 7 - Again, great at defending, not good at the football. Morgan 7 - Thought he got a bit of a chasing in the second half but what a block that was. Konchesky 7 - Thought he was very solid today and made exactly the sort of cynical foul people have been crying out for! Mahrez 7 - Barely in the game but won it for us. James 6 - Busy throughout but lacking any real moments of quality. Cambiasso 7 - I didn't think today was one of his better games but he was still our best midfielder. Schlupp 7 - Had one of his Jeff days going forward where he failed to engage his brain. Defensively he was great though. Nugent 7.5 - 10/10 for effort, 5/10 for the actual football. Once you stop expecting him to do anything exciting he becomes a lot easier to appreciate. Ulloa 6 - Very cumbersome in his hold up play. Basically no use unless he's in the box, which he wasn't today. subs: Wood 4 - Crap, but an amazing bit of skill in injury time to control it on his shoulder. De Laet 5 - Meh Drinkwater 7 - Goal line clearance and used the ball far better than anyone else as Cambiasso was off the pitch.
Bamba's Babes Posted 29 December 2014 Posted 29 December 2014 10 - 9 - 8 - Cambiasso, James, Schlupp 7 - Was, Morgan, Hamer, Mahrez 6 - Simpson, Drinkwater, Nugent, Ulloa, Pearson 5 - De Laet, 4 - Konchesky, Wood, Hull, Referee 3 - 2 - 1 - Konchesky is a complete and utter liability both through his discipline and on-field product. Hull were poor overall, should have started Hernandez. Phil Dowd plays the longest advantage in football and was fairly useless. Wood was awful, no surprise he hasn't been in the squad. Will return to the stands in NY Day. Wrong subs imo from Pearson. Nugent was dead and needed replacing. I'd have switched Mahrez to No.10 and still brought RDL on. We rode our luck but nobody will remember that if we stay up!
DennisNedry Posted 29 December 2014 Posted 29 December 2014 Ulloa 6 - Very cumbersome in his hold up play. Basically no use unless he's in the box, which he wasn't today. Apart from holding the ball up to feed Nugent, who then passed to Mahrez for the goal? Anyway, from TV: Hamer - 6 Konch - 5 Wes - 7 Wasyl - 7 Simpson - 6 Schlupp - 6 James - 6 Cambiasso - 7 Mahrez - 8 (+1 for the match winner) Nugent - 6 Ulloa - 6 Subs: DD - 6 Wood - 4 - Worryingly poor. Consider how he has (not) developed in comparison to Harry Kane who's a similar player. De Laet - 6 Hull - 5 - They were poor but how they didn't win the game, god only knows. Ref - 8 - Got all key decisions spot on.

Kane is completely different - his game is all about movement and work rate.

ousefox Posted 29 December 2014 Posted 29 December 2014 Surprised people aren't rating James higher, seemed to be everywhere and having some very important touches.
