Simi Posted 1 June 2007 Posted 1 June 2007 That flag across the stadium looked fantastic. What were your impressions of the stadium as a whole Lemond ?
Daggers Posted 1 June 2007 Author Posted 1 June 2007 I said I was only going to see the stadium (and hopefully a bit of decent football)...well, I got the stadium anyway! Over the years I have been getting more and more pissed off with international footy, tonight just rammed home how I hate to be English sometimes. Whether it was the poor Brazilian who was accosted by the pissed-up chain-smoking Hammers fans, or the five blokes flicking the V's at two lovely urbane Brazilian girls, or the chant of "stick your ****ing salsa up your arse" ( ) , or...nah, let's stop there. I was embarrassed to be English. England supporters ****ing disgust me.

Sorry for the questions, just intrigued to know other peoples views ?
Daggers Posted 1 June 2007 Author Posted 1 June 2007 That flag across the stadium looked fantastic. What were your impressions of the stadium as a whole Lemond ? I'm wowed by the Wembley (inside) - a superb venue. Worth £757mill? Nah. £8.00 fish and chips was a let-down...don't ever be tempted. The big trouble is - it's still in Wembley. It took me almost two hours to drive from J4 of the M1 to Stanmore to find a parking spot. That has to be a joke for a national stadium that this is the first main car dumping area as you come in from the North. It was a decent day out - but I'm not going back until we're there next year
lookwhaticando Posted 1 June 2007 Posted 1 June 2007 What's the 80m about? I'm about to point out that the whole thing cost 757m quid... but didn't want to steam in unless the 80m is another important number.
Daggers Posted 1 June 2007 Author Posted 1 June 2007 What was the atmosphere like in there? Was the stadium what you expected it to be? The stewards were super-friendly...although I got searched on the way in. I'd hidden my camera inside my waterproof and can only guess that they stopped searching the second I got in because EVERYONE had a camera...even though it forbids them on the ticket. The first half (as you probably saw) was dreadful...so there were Mexican waves to pass the time. Thus, when I say I thought the atmosphere was poor it's probably more a reflection of the match and where I was...my seat was (like in E3) right at the back. When the teams came out the flashes around the ground looked amazing. I can't wait to see a match there where I care about the result.
Daggers Posted 1 June 2007 Author Posted 1 June 2007 £80million? What's the 80m about? Where did you both get that figure from? It's £757M...every fule kno that

I take it the stewards wern't over concerned about this? I got searched when I went in, we got in with a camera aswell. If the prices wern't so high the concources would be good. The lifts aswell were a nice feature.
Daggers Posted 1 June 2007 Author Posted 1 June 2007 £8 for Fish & Chips £20 for Petrol £30 for Ticket Ramming seven times into the car that had blocked me in - priceless.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 2 June 2007 Posted 2 June 2007 That picture of the two fans with Rooney and Beckham on the back of their shirts is really good. And the one of the Brazilian fans at the bottom.

Fez of Mahrez Posted 2 June 2007 Posted 2 June 2007 Shame about the bastard son of Bono waving his flag I think that's what makes the picture. I can't decide whether he exudes confidence or uncertainty. I like it.
filbertway Posted 2 June 2007 Posted 2 June 2007 I hope theres a lift to the top of the stadium judging by how steep it looks in that picture
Daggers Posted 2 June 2007 Author Posted 2 June 2007 I hope theres a lift to the top of the stadium judging by how steep it looks in that picture Escalators Coming down by the staircase, I thought I'd descended into hell...next stop the River Stxy...
spirefox Posted 2 June 2007 Posted 2 June 2007 Great to see your flag there when we got in! Agree about the Stanmore crawl, usual complete lack of planning and forethought.Still a fantastic trip though, can't wait to go back next May.
dandannieldanok Posted 2 June 2007 Posted 2 June 2007 Looks fantastic, I'll go when we reach the FA Cup final because we won't be in the play-offs, we'll be champions.

Not my flag - there were loads of Citeh fans there...it's like our second home
Simi Posted 2 June 2007 Posted 2 June 2007 I hope theres a lift to the top of the stadium judging by how steep it looks in that picture Escalators as soon as you walk in, however you can't get down them at the end. The stairs seem to go on forever as Lemond said.
Bryn Posted 2 June 2007 Posted 2 June 2007 Stadium looks so much better when it's almost full, it looked shit with those massive gaps.
lildave3 Posted 2 June 2007 Posted 2 June 2007 That guy in the City shirt, I know him from somewhere.
