FilboFox Posted 13 September 2008 Posted 13 September 2008 FXT Factor 2008 Here we are once again, it's time to face the endless weeks of voting for songs as we start the search for the person with perhaps the best taste in music on Foxes Talk, Leicester City Fans Forum! Last year was very much all about finding out whether this would work and now, taking into consideration what happened last year, I feel that this year will be a complete success and almost like the official start following a trial competition as much as AoWW would like to see it otherwise. There are therefore some major changes that will be in place at the start of this competition that will hopefully make it fairer to more people who wish to join in. Here's what will happen this year: 1. Should you wish to join, you will sign up on the official sign up thread (HERE) making sure that you choose, and post, 1 song and it's YouTube video for the judges to assess. There is no limit to the amount of people that can initially join, but 12 people from the total amount of people that sign up will be chosen for the final groups. Should two or more people choose the same song, it is the first person to have chosen the song that it will be accredited to and the others will have to submit another song or be excluded. 2. Sign ups will last for 2 weeks and end on Saturday 27th September 2008 at 20:00 hrs. At which point, no more songs will be evaluated and all late sign ups will be ignored. Judges will then choose their favourite 12 songs from the sign ups and, following discussions with the other judges to come to an agreement, will choose the final 12 people to advance to the groups. A random draw of names will then take place to determine the placement of the people to groups and their mentors. 3. On Saturday 4th October 2008, the 12 finalists and their groups will be announced leaving 1 week for them to find their song to put forward for the finals which will start on the 11th October 2008. 4. The structure of the competition is as follows: The contestants will submit their songs by 00:00 hrs on the Saturday morning of the contests week or earlier, should they fail to do so, it will then fall to the mentor of that person to choose a song for them to put forward. Once all of the songs have been submitted to me, at around 14:00 hrs on the Saturday, the poll will be opened for all of the rest of the Foxes Talk members to vote on. The poll will remain open for 32 hours and at 22:00 hrs on Monday, the poll will close and whichever song has the least votes will be eliminated. 5. This will be the format for the rest of the competition until we reach the final 4 contestants and then 2 songs will have to be submitted from each participant. At this point, Foxes Talk members will continue to vote for their favourite song but at the end of the poll time, the results of both of the contestants songs will be added together to create a single total figure. The contestant with the lowest overall score will then be eliminated. ---------- SIGN UPS: Submit songs for consideration before 20:00 hrs on 27th September 2008. FINALS: Once the competition starts, songs must be submitted by the Saturday of the contests week at 00:00 hrs. Voting will open on that Saturday at 14:00 hrs and will close at 22:00 hrs on the following Monday. JUDGES / MENTORS: FilboFox, AoWW, JTB. Of the 12 final contestants, 4 will be allocated to each of the 3 judges / mentors. ---------- Good luck to all!

AoWW Posted 13 September 2008 Posted 13 September 2008 28 hours for voting (especially as most of that is during a Sunday, which tends to be a 'quiet' day on here) doesn't seem very long. Just an observation...

Could open it on the Saturday at around 2pm then... would mean all of the people coming on after the match would be able to vote. Thanks.

Jay Posted 13 September 2008 Posted 13 September 2008 I don't really understand this... maybe I am just being stupid but what is the entry requirement thing all about surely I should get a bye into the next round for by musical brilliance!! when it comes to an entry video does it have to have a video or just be on youtube? for example if the song has no video but just a picture is this acceptable or does it have to have a "music video" can I use the fact I pointed James in the direct of Pete Philly and helped AOWW to find 808 state as a bribe to get through?

And anyway, things should stay as they are now... all changes last year were because there were problems that people picked up... hence why I am calling it a 'trial run' and that this year should be good as all the problems have been smoothed out and shouldn't be changed this time round at all. Also, this time round is better as it is in perfect sync with the real X Factor so I'll be able to remember to do everything and the interest in this will be more so due to the fact that it is during the X Factor and not after... last year, people may have had enough of the X Factor and then I started it so this time should be better too.

Just post the YouTube video with the song... it doesn't have to have the video with it as it is about the songs.
