Mourinho should become a Foxestalk Member

So he can join all us moaning bastards :P:whistle:

Jose Mourinho has criticized Uefa's seeding system as Chelsea find themselves in the second pot for Thursday's much-awaited UEFA Champions League draw.

Despite winning The Premiership for the last two years, and reaching the semi-final of Europe's most prestigious competition in 2005, The Blues have been grouped with teams such as PSV Eindhoven, Lille and Celtic.

Premiership rivals Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester United meanwhile have all been included amongst the first seeds, despite the fact that both Rafa Benitez and Arsene Wenger had to steer their sides through the qualification stage.

As a result of Uefa's decision Mourinho's Blues will be grouped with one of Barcelona, Real Madrid, Valencia, Internazionale and Milan when the draw takes place in Monaco, and Mourinho is none too pleased about the scenario.

"The way the groups are made is wrong, the criteria to be seeded in the groups," said Mourinho.

"How can a team who has to qualify be in front of a team who goes straight into the group?'

"The Premiership is an even competition. The Champions League is not.

"The Champions League is the best competition in the world but you don't see the best clubs in the semi-finals."

You can follow the draw live with skysports.com later on Thursday.

I cant really stand the man, but have to agree with him on this. It reminds me of the FIFA World Standings that are just totally irrelevant (placing Mexico so high just because they play more games against sub-standard opposition). The Rankings should be based on last season (maybe two) alone, based on position finished domestically and performance in Europe. Man Utd being seeded is a joke - they have not won the premier league since 02 - 03 and Champions League in 99.

Too much emphasis is placed on past achievements, just because Forest won 2 European cups in the 70's, if they ever did get back into European competition - should this be taken into account. I read that they take into account the past status of the clubs, times change as does the power in football domestically which should be reflected in Europe.

I'm sure we can all empathise with his plight.

How crass and insensitive of UEFA to take Chelsea's abysmal pre-Abramovich European record into account.

he can do all the moaning he wants but the simple fact is..... If you wanna be the best you got to BEAT the best!!!

Why don't they just throw all the names in the hat one year (i know the money men answer) would love to see a group with:-

Chelsea

Real Madrid

Barca

AC Milan

That would be just darn exiting for the likes of AF, JM!!!!

Mourinho has a valid point. People are dismissing it simply because they don't like Mourinho or Chelsea - but if we were Chelsea supporters (or if Leicester had won the Premiership for 2 years running and reaching the CL Semi Finals) we wouldn't be too happy either, being 2nd seeds below Man United and Liverpool.

Uefa's seeding is clearly wrong - whether Mourinho moans about it or not.

There may are valid reasons for his moan, to be honest I didn't even read it as it's a case of cry wolf!

Disagree. The top seeds all have far better records in the competition than Chelsea over the past ten, or even five, years.

Chelsea might well wish to airbrush that part of the history when they could only make the UEFA Cup, where they would regularly exit in the first round to modest Swiss, Israeli or Norwegian opposition.

But it doesn't mean that we or UEFA should indulge them in their wish!

Hold on a minute!

It's a European tournament and Chelsea haven't met the criteria for a top seeding. What's his problem?

Liverpool won the tournament 2 years ago for crying out loud!

Unfortunately for Abramovich a top seeding isn't something you can buy, you have to earn it

Ok so we should take Man Utds 1999 win, frequent early exits since and one premiership title in 5 or more years over Chealsea who have reached the quarters and semis in last two years and won premiership twice?

You've just answered your own question "in the last two years"

Unfortunately for Chelsea, the seedings are determined over a far longer period, so maybe in three or four years time, when Chelsea may not win the title, but still qualify for Europe, they'll realise this, and get a seeding higher then their final league position deserves!

It's simple really if they don't like how the competition is run they don't have to compete in it!

Can you imagine if a clubs started pulling out - it would be funny, Woking for the Champions League

Ironically Woking would give many of the teams that qualify for the champions league a run for their money!

I still stand by my opinion that the Champions League should be for champions and champions ONLY!

The rest can make a Runner-up League for all I care...

I dunno about becoming a Foxestalk member, but by the looks of things he's been taking press handling tips off Mickey Adams.

"I've managed for six or seven years. That was not a Jose Mourinho team at Middlesbrough.

Jose Mourinho is Jose Mourinho and Jose Mourinho will stay Jose Mourinho until Jose Mourinho dies if Jose Mourinho has anything to do with it.
