Lineker's Left Foot Posted 26 April 2007 Posted 26 April 2007 I was in Virgin and walked out with Mark Ronson ~ Version. God damn I'm a sucker for horns. A poor karaoke singer who has IMO ruined lots of original tracks - nevermind
Matt Posted 26 April 2007 Posted 26 April 2007 I was in Virgin and walked out with Mark Ronson ~ Version. God damn I'm a sucker for horns. Corny as fook! Theres the odd few songs of it that are ok, but the rest are just embaressing! The Good Songs off the album; God Put A Smile Upon Your Face Stop Me Apply Some Pressure (Love the song anyway, They've not messed with it too much either) And wtf have they done to LSF?!

Daggers Posted 26 April 2007 Author Posted 26 April 2007 I guess you have to appreciate the arrangements with the instruments It works for me. There again, I like Richard Cheese, especially Rape Me ("Here's one for the ladies") and Only Happy When It Rains...the last one being a strike of genius.

Richard Cheese amuses me.
Alexikokopops Posted 28 April 2007 Posted 28 April 2007 A poor karaoke singer who has IMO ruined lots of original tracks - nevermind Amusingly enough he doesn't actually sing on the songs you claim he has ruined. I've just stolen it off my housemate who's been listening to it on repeat for the past week or so. I'm actually surprised I enjoy it, covering the Smiths or Radiohead is would never usually go down well in my book but I actually don't mind the cover of "Stop Me If You Think You've Heard This One Before" and quite enjoy the cover of "Just". I actually heard that randomly on the radio at about half ten one night driving back from my Uni early last year. Ronson also improves Maximo Park, but then again that's not too hard now is it? (THAT'S RIGHT, I WENT THERE!!) Edit: Oh yeah, and ODB on "Toxic" is priceless, love it. If anyone wants to know which songs are on it/who's covering then have a gander here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Version_%28album%29

Alexikokopops Posted 3 May 2007 Posted 3 May 2007 You've just mentioned Maximo Park as well, oh well nevermind !! I'm not even sure what you mean by that. In case you didn't understand from the first post I don't like Maximo Park.
Lineker's Left Foot Posted 3 May 2007 Posted 3 May 2007 I'm not even sure what you mean by that. In case you didn't understand from the first post I don't like Maximo Park. Good I am glad. Personally I'm an old dinosaur and hated anything generally rock/indie since 1993 - cos IMO Britpop was sh*te !! I personally believe everything like Maximo Park is just rehashing it all now!!

I am shocked that I wasn't horrified by the cover of Stop Me If You Think That You've Heard This One Before, it's one of my favourite Smiths songs. Maybe I've just become conditioned to it through my housemate constantly playing it...

Alternatively, it's thrilling, energetic and popular music that sounds great played live, and even better while getting inadvertently kicked in the head by a girl crowdsurfing all the way from the back to the front of Birmingham Academy. Not everything has to be on Spanktastic Records.

You're speaking to an old man of 30 mate who always sits with the younger ones at work, moaning about the music they have on their mobiles!! Thing is, can't really afford to buy any more music mate !!
