lcfcrinaldi Posted 1 March 2009 Posted 1 March 2009 I know theres probably a topic about this but i couldnt be botherd to trawl through all the others to find it. Does anybody know the date when the tickets are going to get re-released again? How much are they? And finally, whos playing!? I know there will blates be Blink-182, but thats pretty much all I have heard, oh and maybe AC/DC.
Tilley Posted 1 March 2009 Posted 1 March 2009 Tickets usually go on sale on a Monday in March at 6:45pm, I think. No acts have been announced yet. Keep an eye out on FR or Leeds Fest OS for when tickets will be on sale & prices.
Finnegan Posted 1 March 2009 Posted 1 March 2009 AC/DC get rumoured for every festival every year and never play .
Finchy Posted 1 March 2009 Posted 1 March 2009 Arctic Monkeys are as good as confirmed. Radiohead/Kings Of Leon also rumoured, Blink may play, no efestivals rumours yet though.
Fosse Boy Posted 1 March 2009 Posted 1 March 2009 AC/DC get rumoured for every festival every year and never play . But I'm sure this'll be the year...
Finnegan Posted 1 March 2009 Posted 1 March 2009 I have to be honest, I'm going on record as outright refusing to go to another UK festival while mainland Europe is as cheap as it is. 69 Euros my friends paid last year to get into a Download equivelant in Germany headlined by In Flames, Machine****inghead and someone else I forget. They paid some sort of travel inclusive deal, too.
Joe. Posted 5 March 2009 Posted 5 March 2009 Not sure whether this has been posted or not yet but tickets on sale Monday 30th March at 7 pm. So glad I've already got mine.

Tilley Posted 7 March 2009 Posted 7 March 2009 How much were they? Me & Joe both got ours in the pre sale, after last years festival. Prices haven't been announced yet, check here in the next few weeks & the prices will be put up at some stage.
StanSP Posted 7 March 2009 Posted 7 March 2009 Blink 182 will probably play. I think I heard that this might be their first show back. Not sure about it though - especially as I don't the state of recovery of Travs Barker after his plane crash.

Not sure about it though - especially as I don't the state of recovery of Travs Barker after his plane crash. Very much doubt it if I'm honest as much as I'd love it. I'd be more than happy with Arctic Monkeys, Kings of Leon and Radiohead though.
lcfc_jme Posted 17 March 2009 Posted 17 March 2009 Im Hearing the tickets are £165. I'm hearing I'm as good as there in that case 'cos that's only a minor out-lay when my loans come in not long after...
Tilley Posted 17 March 2009 Posted 17 March 2009 Im Hearing the tickets are £165. .. Yeah, with a £7 booking fee & £5 postage. So £177. Then £10 for early entry if you want it, so £187.
Joe. Posted 22 March 2009 Posted 22 March 2009 Maximo Park and The Offspring added on Efest! Got a feeling the lineup this year is going to be ****ing quality. Roll on next Monday!
Finchy Posted 22 March 2009 Posted 22 March 2009 Maximo Park and The Offspring added on Efest! Got a feeling the lineup this year is going to be ****ing quality. Roll on next Monday! Meh, not fussed but yeah I think if the headliners being mentioned are gonna be there, it's gonna be a great festival. Can't wait to be back at Reading festival, I went in 06 and 07 then I missed it in 08 and I can't tell you how much I wished I was there in August. Never gonna miss it again, no matter what the line up is This year i'm hoping The Streets make an appearance, Bon Iver, Elbow, Gallows and Flight Of The Conchords.
lcfc_jme Posted 23 March 2009 Posted 23 March 2009 Seeing as I am now looking like having to buy a new laptop, I can't quite decide whether to go to this or not. Is it worth financial meltdown? Somebody in the know point me in the right direction.

Somebody in the know point me in the right direction. No. Reading is a decent festival and it's worth doing once or so for the experience but in terms of value for money it just isn't worth it any more. When I first went I think I paid about £80 odd for a weekend ticket, haha, something like that. It was amazing and when we were all 15 we loved Reading. I went four years running and would have gone for the half decade straight if I hadn't broken up with my then-girlfriend before '06. But my eyes are very much open now and the costs have recently BOOMED. Add to the fact that festivals are far more "trendy" these days and the scene has gone seriously down hill in my eyes. If you're one of the above mentioned scenesters then I'd go (though don't bankrupt yourself, Jamie mate, from someone who was an expert at blowing his student loan I'd preach a relative degree of caution to anyone especially as you're going, I guess, into your first year of rented accomodation next year?) but otherwise if you're really desperate to go to a festival then try and get some of your mates to look towards Europe. For that £170 you could do an entire weekend at a Euro festival including travel and spending money when you're there. They're immensely cheap, attract great bands and the facilities are always far better (so's the beer!)

Definitely not a "scenester", just looking to do a festival this year to couple with a holiday as work experience will take up a large portion of my free time and I want some form of enjoyment. £80 for the entire weekend is phenomenal value compared to the £200+ is costs for a weekend this year! But your idea sounds a lot better. A chance to enjoy a festival in a country I probably haven't been to before for less than it costs for a weekend away in England is a win-win situation for me, really. Esepcially as you say with moving into my own rented place in August. Great beer, better facilities and quality bands are major selling points.. The only problem being, I have no idea what festivals actually go on around Europe as I've never really paid them much attention. Any in particular you'd suggest be looked out for?

lcfc_jme Posted 24 March 2009 Posted 24 March 2009 Yes. Best time I've ever had last year. You'd love it mate. See that was my thinking but then, if it's just as much money to get to a festival out in Europe as it is to go to Leeds, surely that makes more sense? New kind of experience altogether, really. What sort of music do you listen to? I don't consider myself a musical snob or anything, pretty partial to whatever takes my fancy. Well, anything except that hardcore trance shit, NRG or something like that. That's horrendous. Guess my main sort of music would be kind of like, indie/rock.
Tilley Posted 29 March 2009 Posted 29 March 2009 Tickets go on sale tomorrow for anyone who is interested. Weekend Ticket is £175 + booking fee & postage.
Joe. Posted 29 March 2009 Posted 29 March 2009 Possibly. Most likely fake. Couple of shoolboy spelling errors which could mean it's all total bollocks.
