  1. Ward would've gently fallen in the opposite direction
  2. The guy is tearing up defences in one of the hardest leagues in the world at nearly 39. Should be a national hero.
  3. The algorithms have been serving me up World Cup 1998 highlights this week, not that I'm complaining, and my god the 98 Holland squad was outrageously good. To think how they might have done against France in the final....
  4. Henry VI has so much to answer for
  5. A lot of people on the British left have obviously never forgiven Eastern Europeans for breaking free from communism which is why they like to portray their countries as corrupt shitholes that deserve to be ruled by Russia.
  6. Anti imperialist, anti war Trump once again distinguishing himself from the neoliberal establishment
  7. what the **** are you doing Ayew
  8. ffs. so ****ing pissed off
  9. one of the best goals of the season so far
  10. Pretty ambivalent towards Madders. Very talented player who played a lot of good football during a pretty good spell for us. Seems like a good guy. But didn't really produce any iconic moments and contributed very little to our second greatest achievement in our history. And the bottom line is, as the post above points out, his very shit penalty basically relegated us, and he'll be remembered for that as much as e.g. the performance against Arsenal in autumn 2019. Such is football.
  11. @Sly we get it you have a big telly
  12. Mavididi is no Mahrez
  13. a lot of American fascism seems to stem from a deep insecurity that the Euros are saying mean things about them when we should be kissing their arses
  14. Kate who?
  15. Who is ant middleton?
  16. This should be my favorite thread on foxestalk but unfortunately it's British telly
  17. Background is always relevant to crime. There are usually aspects of a person's upbringing that point to why a crime has been committed. As I wrote above, these guys are from a country and culture where sexual abuse including against minors is, by all accounts, quite normalized compared to here. They've also grown up in a very violent and unstable environment. If someone from an English council estate who'd experienced sexual abuse as a child then committed a similar crime as an adult, obviously their background would be relevant.
  18. Afghanistan is an extreme example though. To put it as mildly as I can, what we see as serious sexual assault is normalised there.
  19. I read it in the Guardian and it made me angry. Can't believe the Guardian would try and radicalize me like that!
  20. Afghanistan is unfortunately an extremely backward country with a population that has mostly grown up in a very brutal and dehumanising environment. I can't say I am filled with joy that so many Afghan men are moving to Britain, I believe there are two other stories similar to the one above that have been released today. Or maybe the Daily Mail is just working its magic on me.
  21. Jesus wept.
  22. I imagine also the median age in the UK is not insignificantly higher than 40-50 years ago which would suggest lower crime numbers.
