  1. A lot of people on the British left have obviously never forgiven Eastern Europeans for breaking free from communism which is why they like to portray their countries as corrupt shitholes that deserve to be ruled by Russia.
  2. Anti imperialist, anti war Trump once again distinguishing himself from the neoliberal establishment
  3. what the **** are you doing Ayew
  4. ffs. so ****ing pissed off
  5. one of the best goals of the season so far
  6. Pretty ambivalent towards Madders. Very talented player who played a lot of good football during a pretty good spell for us. Seems like a good guy. But didn't really produce any iconic moments and contributed very little to our second greatest achievement in our history. And the bottom line is, as the post above points out, his very shit penalty basically relegated us, and he'll be remembered for that as much as e.g. the performance against Arsenal in autumn 2019. Such is football.
  7. @Sly we get it you have a big telly
  8. Mavididi is no Mahrez
  9. a lot of American fascism seems to stem from a deep insecurity that the Euros are saying mean things about them when we should be kissing their arses
  10. Kate who?
  11. Who is ant middleton?
  12. This should be my favorite thread on foxestalk but unfortunately it's British telly
  13. Background is always relevant to crime. There are usually aspects of a person's upbringing that point to why a crime has been committed. As I wrote above, these guys are from a country and culture where sexual abuse including against minors is, by all accounts, quite normalized compared to here. They've also grown up in a very violent and unstable environment. If someone from an English council estate who'd experienced sexual abuse as a child then committed a similar crime as an adult, obviously their background would be relevant.
  14. Afghanistan is an extreme example though. To put it as mildly as I can, what we see as serious sexual assault is normalised there.
  15. I read it in the Guardian and it made me angry. Can't believe the Guardian would try and radicalize me like that!
  16. Afghanistan is unfortunately an extremely backward country with a population that has mostly grown up in a very brutal and dehumanising environment. I can't say I am filled with joy that so many Afghan men are moving to Britain, I believe there are two other stories similar to the one above that have been released today. Or maybe the Daily Mail is just working its magic on me.
  17. Jesus wept.
  18. I imagine also the median age in the UK is not insignificantly higher than 40-50 years ago which would suggest lower crime numbers.
  19. First half Spanish, second half San Marinese
  20. Definitely feels more lived in and more like a coherent city with character to me which is probably a lot to do with it being more centrally planned. There are many places in London I love but I find it a bit weird. Many of its inhabitants and our elected officials clearly want it to be the ultimate global city and at times that works but often it just feels a bit soulless and lacking identity now. Even half the big sporting events are now American. I'm sure many French would complain that process has probably happened to some extent in Paris but it's nowhere near the same. Somehow I was surprised to find good French restaurants full of locals in the middle of their capital city. Imagine that!
  21. There's a great story she tells during the commentary on the Charlie's Angels DVD about being in the Kop when Brian Tinion scored the winner for Bristol City in 1994. Had me in stitches.
  22. Potential to combine it with a weekend in a little Cotswolds cottage snowing outside pretending you're in classic 2000s rom com The Holiday.
