Me too. Would love to go back. I loved Konya and the area round there and Aksaray. Loved the train ride to Adana, incredible endless landscapes. Loved the landscapes around the northern coast and really wanted to explore the little valleys and villages. Most of all though I loved the south east, especially Antioch. This was 2010 too, so before the Syrian War and obviously before the earthquakes. So the memories are tinged with sadness.

Probably the best trip of my life was meandering across Anatolia for a couple of weeks, both south east and northern parts. Amazing part of the world that feels, outside of Cappadocia, like it'll never be very touristy.

Seems like a shame to miss out on black sea coast Turkey which is one of my favourite places. Very different from the rest of the country geographically and culturally. Loads of historic sights. Why not stop over in Sinop and Trabzon?

What's really fascinating about the immigration debate in England is that all evidence points to the fact that leaving the EU has made the situation worse in a number of ways, yet millions of people still seem to think the answer is Nigel Farage. It's like people still having faith in Patson Daka.

There were attempted pogroms of asylum seekers last summer in England.

Leaving aside the fact that this is clearly untrue it shows again that a lot of Brits will profess tolerance towards foreigners only as a way of showing that they're better than them. I remember all the stuff about how we needed to keep out Eastern Europeans... because they're not as tolerant as us.

What type of football do people want to watch?

Exactly. A bit of spontaneity to get people off their seat -

Passion, attacking intent, never-say-die attitude. Intense, borderline sociopathic goalkeepers. Defenders with big Teutonic or Slavic foreheads. Small, creative midfielders with skills honed in the Paris banlieues. Skinny strikers with troubled childhoods on council estates of northern England. Bespectacled managers with uninspiring amateur football careers between spells as PE teachers in harsh Westphalian boarding schools. -
Would be the first person younger than me to manage Leicester. Which is depressing on a number of levels.
-
It wasn't that great at the start either. Can only assume it's an East Midlands thing. Tall, striking women set off some kind of genetic trauma from the Viking invasions.

Chants are not enough. We need effigies of RM being burned by the clock tower.

This is the worst Geoff Peters post on this forum since Boris was 10 points ahead in 2021

Congrats Forest, finished higher than our 21/22 team. Fairy-tale stuff.

They've been a bit of a bogie team for us

I'm not one of these insufferable English people that is cringingly embarrassed by anything connected to their country. But please don't show this thread to anybody from outside Britain.
