But all of these managers you’ve listed are crap. Regardless of the other issues, there’s no point committing to someone crap. We all agree that King Power are the problem here - but a large part of that is them hiring substandard personnel, whether that be players, managers or other staff.

But not enough to show some pride in the shirt, based on the last few seasons? The reality is that the players’ attitude is driven by the internal culture of the club, including but not limited to that of the manager. So even when we replace players, the new ones still think it’s ok to put in half a shift. Again, players need to be mature and professional enough to acknowledge that the negativity is warranted and based on the past few seasons, isn’t personal, and will only change if they take the results as personally as the fans. In reality footballers look for a way to pass the buck and get a transfer. Footballers are not poor victims, they are the privileged class who aren’t willing to make even the most basic sacrifices for their club (see Winks, see no one boycotting World Cups). If they care as much as the fans do I expect them to have the same standards instead of hiding and saying it’s hard to play under pressure and need time to implement the process etc. That won’t wash anymore, it’s results or get out.

By this logic whenever we win it isn’t because the style of play. So why is he so committed to it?

I’ve always thought there were holes in the plan, even under Vichai. The fact is, King Power are not knowledgeable football people and they don’t surround themselves with people who are. There were signs they didn’t care about the fans, didn’t know how to scout a manager, spent too much money on gambles, etc. But they got some big decisions right that mitigated the mistakes. But things have been unravelling in double quick time since early in Top’s reign. And the difference is, I suspect, Top doesn’t care enough about his own reputation to put in effort and make decisions. Vichai did things wrong, but he made decisions. So, King Power were never the heroes everyone made them out to be. They had quite a bit of luck. But Top is clearly so, so bad at what he does that of course we can trace the decline back to him. It takes a special kind of shite to run things this badly.

That’s the Scots for you. They think they are the wise, salt of the earth footballing utopia. And look at how wholesome they are when they go abroad. Why can’t the English be more like that?

I saw a bloke wearing a Forest shirt at the barbers the other week. There was a 20 year period where you never saw any. I’m not sure I can blame Top and Rudkin for that directly, but…nah I’m going to anyway. It sums up the situation.

I used to defend our club and fans to the hilt when I was young. As a midlands club that isn’t Forest we’ve always been spoken about condescendingly by the media. It always made me raging. Like many youths I looked for purpose and pride in my local team because there is so little prospect of it in life. But this hits the nail on the head. How can I stick up for us and have pride if this is our culture? We allow ourselves to be doormats, suckers and zombies. There is no fundamental soul to this club, nothing that binds it to itself. We have no identity outside of King Power anymore. I always worried it was flimsy, our fans have always been too self-deprecating, but we’ve gone to extremes in recent years. It grinds you down eventually - the low match scores, team after team of ugly, ugly football. The shite atmosphere, the rude stewards, club staff in management positions talking to you with a lack of respect, year after year of insulting kits and people still buying them, players and managers telling the fans they are to blame. And the fans just lapping it all up. It’s a paradox - the pride I had in the club is exactly why I’m too ashamed of it to be angry. The only thing that angers me now is the fans who are still complicit by attending, or those that think they are too sensible and clever to hate this iteration of the club.

No it’s not unfair. People need to get this into their skulls. Rodgers, as a personality, is extremely similar to Martin. It’s not that they aren’t capable of tactical understanding or better ideas - it’s that they both put their branding first. Seeing this coming was even more important than seeing that these managers were going to make crap subs. Egos that big, ones that are more important than the club, ruin everything. Frankly, I could have won the cup and finished top 4 if I was managing that Leicester squad, but that’s not the point I was making. You’ve just misread my post because you were aching to defend someone who took the Mickey out of you. We didn’t learn anything. Pearson knew how important personality and character was, we hire people he would have nothing to do with and that’s as crucial as the lack of talent has been.

Russell Martin is the epitome of the pretentious ex-footballer who thinks the fans know nothing. Another Brendan Rodgers that wants to present football as complicated and impossible for the peasants to understand. Like Rodgers he might change briefly to save his own skin, then complain we didn’t control the game and go back to ruining the club.

Oh yeh how misguided we were 😂 Nobody has actually suggested we’re getting relegated, just that our 5-year trajectory is enough for it to be concerning. ’Getting promoted’ threads might signal balance to you, but in reality they’d be ignorant. ‘Getting relegated’ threads might signal knee jerk reaction to you, but they have been consistently justified by fact.

He’s poison because he only cares about himself, not the club. It’s a running theme. He’ll play his brand of football because it keeps getting him jobs, not results. You remember that Pearson bloke? There was someone who you could tell wanted the club to be successful. His tactics weren’t always great, but you could tell from minute 1 that he was trying to improve the club’s fortunes. Martin is here to make it all about him. That’s his personality. He doesn’t care if the style of football doesn’t work, because what’s important to him is that it makes him look like a visionary. And when it doesn’t work, he can just say the players weren’t ready for it. He’s cut from the same cloth as Rodgers and it was his personality that killed us. You can’t have characters like that managing things. I would be happy to see a manager who says he wants to play fast, attacking football, take risks in the opposition half, and for the players, playing for the big club of this division, to back themselves to outscore teams. More than that, a manager who does what he says he’s going to do. You speak as if people wouldn’t be happy with any manager - when in fact the club have hired the one man absolutely everybody doesn’t want. That’s after numerous appointments of no marks, inexperienced media darlings, and every single one playing this horrendous possession-centric football which has been repeatedly discredited on a statistical, logical and entertainment level. Your post only makes you another disingenuous gaslighter. You know full well what we want. You just don’t like hearing it because then you’d have to accept that every single thing about this club you devote your time to is a disgrace and a waste of your time. Again, this fan base and forum is full of people who think that positivity is a greater virtue than honesty or pride. Wake up.

Who cares if it’s not Martin’s fault we were relegated? You’re missing the point. We don’t want him. We will never forgive King Power for what they’ve done. You can’t just lower expectations because the people responsible for our club aren’t good enough to deliver what we should expect. You seem to think that because it’s a new season there’s a clean slate, there isn’t. Russell Martin is the same guy who managed Rangers and Southampton, Top is the same guy who has ruined the club over the last few seasons. They’re poison and need to be removed ASAP. Who cares if the 0-0 at MK Dons in the third tier was an ok performance?

But as I’ve said above, they should be intelligent enough to understand that they are part of a bigger picture, it’s not personal. Is there any real evidence the players, as individuals, aren’t being supported? People still turn up in big numbers, they don’t boo individual players or target them. We cheer when they score or clap when they complete a 20 yard pass still, I assume? It also really depends on what the priority is. For a lot of people, getting Martin, Top and Rudkin away from the club is just as important as promotion. And considering promotion looks unlikely, prioritising a negative atmosphere could be considered a tactic to speed up the exit. Personally, I think boycotting is better, but after years of people telling us we were in League One once and to be careful what we wish for, no amount of negativity in the fans is unjustified. If the attendance was 0 or it was 90 minutes of pure booing, I actually might start to love the club again. Because the club isn’t the players, it’s the fans. And that would be a show of pride we needed and we’ve not had.

Agree with this - also I think the players need to take responsibility and have some sort of awareness of the situation, even if they are young. This is professional football, professionals should do some basic research on the club they are playing for. They must know by now that the fans hate the ownership, hate the manager, hate the style of football and have been badly let down. If they are too stupid to understand that this negativity is being directed at the version of the club that currently exists, rather than them personally, then that’s on them.

It’s hard for some people to grasp that there’s just no credit in the bank anymore. They aren’t going to get any more leeway. Only an idiot would be hopeful, knowing what we know about King Power, Rudkin and Russell Martin. Positivity just isn’t realistic. I do agree with one thing - I don’t know why anybody still goes. I think quite a lot of people aren’t capable of reflection, they just do everything out of habit and then justify it after the fact.

Better isn’t good enough though. If we don’t look like winning this league then the manager is failing. Nothing less than what Nigel did at this level is acceptable. If we let our expectations fall in line with the people running the club then we aren’t a serious fanbase. Being where we are is not ok and we need to stop lowering standards for them.

You are sticking your neck out for him, you’re defending him despite the fact everyone hates him. He’s responsible for both results and the entertainment value. He’s going to fail at both, don’t do this to yourself.
