Ridiculous that we don't have a new Manager in place for this. Feel sorry for Kingy Expecting another loss, unfortunately
-
It is if you don't only buy into an average points per game as a given for success or failure. Smith came in with one job, survival. It was still achievable with 8 games to go. He won just 2 of those 8 games in charge. He failed. Therefore, it is a fair point for some to be underwhelmed if he joins again, especially with a similar mission of avoiding another relegation.

Fair point

I couldn't think of a much worse appointment than Martin right now. We need someone to change the toxic atmosphere, not add to it.
-
We are probably still paying Dean Smith, same as RVN and Cooper... sooo at least that part would be easy
-
You have misplaced faith in Top and Rudkin.
-
Are we done now?? Or do we have more potential FFP breaches coming? I just want to take the punishment, and get back to demanding Top and Rudkin OUT the club.
-
Oh well. Will take that. Better than 10. Can we PLEASE run the club properly now...

Premier League has charged LCFC with an alleged breach of PSR

Not as cruel as 10 points with a 1 point reduction every time Daka scores. Great minds @ian__marshall although yours a bit faster -
Tell us more...

The way things went down at Rangers, we should be nowhere near Russell anymore. He needs to go Manage abroad.
-
He was always good at saying the right things. I just saw very little of putting those words into actions. I didn’t think he was the right guy, but didn’t think he would be this bad either. I expect him to end up abroad in lower divisions. Nice guy but just a MEH manager.

Enzo leaving and bad recruitment absolutely killed our chances. I don’t see a scenario where we avoid the drop that season.
-
I think there are other Managers that could have got that squad promoted, but I don’t trust Top would have appointed them. Feels like he lucked out with Enzo, and partly because Enzo took control of the whole situation.
-
Wolves were underperforming and were always likely to improve. We may have been able to get a few more wins with a new manager, but I think staying up is wishful thinking and glossing over how truly awful our squad was for the Premier League.
-
At this point, it really is just going to be about luck, whether we end up with a decent Manager or not. Top has no clue what he is doing. Luckily, the odds are more in our favour now, after some absolute lemons of late
-
Ruud’s downfall. One of many though.
-
Wolves who finished 17 points above us that season? They had a much better starting 11 than us. Our players and recruitment were woeful. Not to excuse Ruud, but the squad was not good enough to stay up that year.

I’ve got a feeling it will be 7 points, whether negotiated down from 10, who knows, but be surprised if any less than that. Relegation battle… wippeeee -

You’d think Top would want to hoodwink a new Manager in before dropping further down the table with a points deduction. -
I don’t see it personally, and the way the players have performed this season as well, just confirms it for me. Woefully inadequate, regardless of Manager. Top, Rudkin and recruitment is what got us here though.
-
Yeh, RVN is a fair point, although I think our squad was so inadequate for the Premier League, no matter who we had Managing us, the losses would have mounted and players would have turned on the Manager. Cifuentes hasn’t been able to get these players to work for him either, despite hearing about his ‘success’ at QPR At this point, we will need a dollop of luck to get a Manager that just clicks here. Everyone we have been linked with has downsides. I just want to avoid relegation, get to the summer, and clear house!
-
I wouldn’t take Saudi as much value. He clearly wasn’t ready for Villa though, and I have doubts he will be a solid Premier League manager in the future. He did very well at Rangers though. Unfortunately, the names we are being linked with and available to us, either have failures on their CV or don’t have much of a CV at all. I don’t like the Championship journeymen like Rowett and Mowbray. I just can’t see our diva squad working hard enough for Managers like those. Cifuentes was too much of a soft touch. We have players here who think they are far better than they are and don’t need to work hard. if we don’t get someone in to really rattle the players and drag them along to enough wins, then I think we could go down this season with a whimper.
-
I have family who are Rangers fans and they were impressed with his stint there and wanted him back. I don’t count Saudi to be honest, that league is a complete mess and I suspect a nightmare to manage in. Aston Villa was a failure but not a complete disaster but they are a much stronger club now, although I don’t think Gerrard is a ready made Premier League Manager anyway. I think the Championship might be his level for now, as well as Lampard. The likeness to Lampard had nothing to do with style or personality, it was in reference to most turning their nose up at Lampard pre Coventry, but seeing how he has had an unexpected, positive impact on them, despite his previous failures. It’s easy to pick apart suggestions anyway, and I do see potential weaknesses with Gerrard. I would be interested to hear who you are favouring from those available and whether you supported the appointment of Cifuentes at the time? I thought Cifuentes didn’t have enough about him, and it seems the players didn’t buy into him either. I see this squad as having a shockingly poor attitude and work ethic, and so that’s why I am leaning towards a strong character to try keep us up this year, but there isn’t much out there. Who are you currently favouring?
-
I understand the argument, but no Manager was ever going to keep Leicester in the Premier League. We were absolutely honking. You could say the same thing now, but with the individual players we have currently, and the woeful standard of this league, there is no way we should be certain for relegation like we were in the Premier League. Who are your alternatives? I personally don't see Rowett or Mowbray getting anything out of this squad, just like I didn't see Cifuentes. They need a lightning bolt, not just another journeyman from down here. I think Lampard is a similar type to Gerrard, and I am sure most would have sniffed at him before he got the Coventry job. Don't get me wrong, I see issues with someone like Gerrard, but I think he gives us a better chance of a new manager bounce (much needed one) and also someone who won't take crap from the divas in the squad. Not ideal, but from the list available, he is my choice so far.
