Two things will save us this season 1. The poor standard of the Championship 2. The strength of our squad, i.e being able to bring on Winks, James, Ricardo etc. Marti needs to start our best players, and as soon as he does that, we should be winning most games. He is currently starting us in games with 1 hand tied behind our back, and he must change that for our next game.
-
I think you could make an argument for both sides. He is a match winner, but with 10 men, does he weaken our defence/strength Personally, I would have taken that risk and pushed for 3 points as we had enough physicality already on the pitch
-
It is still early, but I would still start him over Skipp and Soumare. He is match fit and ready to play alongside Winks. Can't be any worse than Skipp/Soumare combo
-
He is far from perfect and I don't like how he sulked either, but he must be ahead of Soumare and Skipp in the starting 11. Results are more important. I will give Marti a pass today, but if we don't see Ricardo, Winks, James and (possibly) Faes starting the next game, then that is an early red flag for me.
-
I would add James to that too. I think we need to try Winks and James together, as we know what we are getting with Soumare and Skipp, together and individually, and it ain't good!
-
do you not want to send him back now? Will you give him another 20mins?

I didn't like Marti's outfit today.

been watching too much rugby and thinks he is getting line-outs up the pitch
-
Bobby is our best player at the club. He will score.
-
Possibly another player that we thought would be good enough, but is a position we likely could have upgraded for not much money. A good shot stopper and like the way he claims balls in the air, but is showing a glaring weakness with his feet and kicking.
-
Yes. I would have liked a starting No.9 that was superior to Ayew and Daka. On paper at least, this doesn't seem to be the case with Carranza and appears to be to supplement our striking options.
-
most likely our 3rd choice striker. What did you think he was going to be?
-
get the horrible feeling he really rates Skipp
-
Has to be Winks and James for the next game. We cannot continue with Soumare and Skipp. They should be backup and nothing else.
-
He seems genuinely up for a battle and was the one pumping up the players after. I still think he needs a striker in front of him, as he drops far to deep to be our only striker.
-
No scenes from him though
-
Is there a more likeable player than Ricardo? He should start every game he is fit for in the league.
-
Wake-up call for Marti. He cannot start Skipp, Soumare and Okoli together again. If Winks and Faes are staying, then they must start as they are better players and give the team more balance. He also needs to figure out what to do in attack, as Ayew drops too deep and it just doesn't seem to work as a lone no.9 with no pace. I will give him a pass for this game, in terms of team selection/formation, but I hope we see changes for the starting line-up in the next game.

I'm here for the overreaction...
-
Not even a yellow 10 years ago. Totally unnecessary challenge that has likely cost us the game though.
-
There are red flags that need addressing by Marti. Luckily, the standard in the Championship is so poor, that we often don't get punished for mistakes or even team selections. Now the window has closed, we need to see Marti make necessary changes to the starting 11. Persisting with Soumare and Skipp, will make winning games that much harder for us. Okoli still looks suspect and if Faes is staying, then he should be starting. Ricardo should be our RB. Winks and/or James need to be starting as well. I hope to see Marti start making those changes in our next game, otherwise I will start to be concerned with his own decision making and stubbornness.
-
We need Faes, Winks and James to start for us. Not popular, but Skipp, Soumare and Okoli will cost us games if we persist with them.
-
Interesting to see the changing reaction to a Skipp - Soumare partnership, after 1 half decent game together. I still don't believe that pairing is the way to go in midfield. Luckily, the standard in the Championship is poor and it may work again today. Long-term, I think it will cause us similar issues that we have already experienced, and could likely cost us winning games.

Same with player interviews. I listened to Skipp earlier and he said all the right things. Too easy to say what people want to hear. Judge them on their performances and results only

Monga has had his time. It is Motsi time!
