He really wouldn’t have been anywhere near my shortlist purely because I wanted to see us move away from that type of football and look to play more a high energy, high intensity style.

However my love for Leicester City, means that if he is appointed he comes in and is able to get something really positive going here because this club sure as hell needs it. I really do hope if appointed he can be a real success, but I have huge reservations.

This is how I feel at the mo as well.

Exactly my thoughts too. I don't hold up that much hope. However, we really need someone to come in and do well, he'll need a fantastic start and if he gets that he may get some support and momentum. If not it might be Toxic very quickly(it already is).

Not what I want style wise, but hopefully he can prove me wrong.

He'll know promotion is the only option, Probably as champions if he wants to be deemed a success(by the fans). Other managers might have grace of the fan if just promotion.

Can anyone, actually put forward a name of a manager that’s gone in somewhere completely unpopular and done well?

from any club. It’s just always impossible to do well when the fans are truly against it. I don’t mean like Claudio is an odd choice… I mean when fans are actually fully against an individual.  Even if they start  well one slip up and it just gets toxic in an instant as everyone waits for the chance to be proved right.

Rafa at Everton. Frank at spurs. Nuno at spurs. Bruce at villa or Newcastle.

I just can’t think of a happy ending when a guy is demonized before a ball is kicked and actually turns those opinions around?

It’s not even like he’s coming into a club that has low expectations out fans will not be happy to lose to any club in league 1… and essentially he needs to be perfect with his PR and results for at least the first month to get any credit in the bank. Or it will go the same as rangers

Leicester city protested about O’Neil after about 3 months

  3. I'm really not sure on the appointment. To say the least.

However, it would be nice to have the slightest bit of positivity around the football club. There must be some good points to appointing Martin. The Southampton correspondent said the players seemed to really like him, but evidence elsewhere show that isnt always the case.

So, any footballing positives on the appointment?

50, yes FIFTY days since we were relegated.

39 days since the last game.

Pre season starts in 21 days, 3 weeks…

First League gameweek is in 55 days.

What the f*** are the club doing?

    What HAVE they done?

    :(

We shouldn't be surprised. But I think what we are surprised about is it seems they don't learn.

Just for context. Not that i'm saying whats going on is right.

    Enzo was appointed 16th June

    Cooper 20th June

Pearson last time in league 1 20th June.

So if we go beyond next week they really haven't learnt from last summer.

They were bullied out of appointing him last time (mainly by those heroes at Bournemouth away) and we know they aggregate sentiment on social media etc.

Need to kick the anti Martin content online up a gear if we don't want him in the absence of any opportunity to voice it in person.

Trouble is they will be looking at that thinking. We wanted to appoint him last summer you complained look what happened.

Nobody here seems to have picked up on my post quoting Talksport. "Martin has others options, both in the UK and abroad". His appointment is not a given thing.

True, but advanced talks makes me think it’s close.

  7. Only thing if the news about trying to get gill too they are trying to put an actual team in place. They haven’t really done that since Enzo(maybe cooper actually).

Might be the wrong team but hey.

One thing though, as much as I don’t want him, I will not get on his back straight the way. Trouble is if we don’t have a flying start it will be even more toxic.

this has been inevitable since we 1st got linked 4/5 years ago I think.

@ClaphamFox I am still hoping you are right!!

The season after he left MK Dons they nearly got automatic promotion after he'd only got them as high as about 15th.

He inherited a Steve Cooper Swansea side who'd been in the playoffs 2 seasons on the spin and finished 15th.

Worse than coops you say. Ideal.

Whatever got Chansiri out is what will hopefully save us.

I definitely don't support this club under this owner. It's as soulless as if we were owned by Red Bull.

It would probably be better ran.

  10. What I think is the issue with Martin, Is they know the fan don't want him. Some people in the club do want him.

Those people in the club will be saying, well if we appointed him last summer blah, blah, blah.

That or we don't have a scooby doo who we are going to appoint.

I know it was like this last summer, but we all knew that was PSR, or at leas we thought it was. This time its just totally inept or the financial situation is close to catastrophic, and it'll get even worse before it gets any better.
