It’s frustrating and given past history it’s no wonder fans are speculating and concerned that we will fall into the same trap of last season, floundering around and waiting until it’s far too late to make the appointment, or it could be as simple as our main target(s) are employed and their seasons are not yet finished.

Yep true, but they could ease that by releasing a statement “We are currently in discussions with candidates for the permanent manager position. We understand that fans are eager for clarity and will provide an update as soon as possible.”

i know it means nothing but radio silence is strange. It’s not just the manager stuff. Ayew and daka will be leaving etc… but no retained list.

I know that a lot on here wanted Will Still here last season.

Whilst he wouldn't be my first or second choice now, would he be someone that may suit us now?? Will he have learned a lot from his time at Southampton? He is obviously at a point where he needs to rebuild his credibility in the game.

Watching this interview, skip straight to about 56 mins!, it does make me wonder about him.

Will still might go on to somewhere else and do well. The up turn that Southampton have taken since he left is amazing, so would be very worrying to me if we appointed him.

He mentions struggling with low block and squad used to playing passing game. Same issues here too but hopefully we'll move on much of the squad.

Would love the Motherwell manager, Jens Berthel Askou. He has got Motherwell defending well and with fast attacking football, they are a really good team.

I think someone mentioned that we were looking at him in Janruary. Linked with Celtic isn't he though?

They’re doing the exact same thing as after relegation last year. Truly incredible.

Feels that way doesn't it. Either they are

    • Even more incompetent than we thought (tricky)
    • They are stupid
    • The really and genuinely don't care at all.

Might be all of the above.

    Other scenarios

    • They are working hard in the background and trying to put a plan in place  (if that is the case have some kind of communication with the fans)
    • Financially we a done and we are going to get even worse news.

Manager wise, we might have to wait until after playoffs etc... Other jobs will be open in the championship, so people might want to work in the division above and we might have to wait. Which is why we might not of ruled out GR for manager.

But I have no idea why we can't do the release list, even if we don't know you can say there are ongoing discussions with x player but the following will leave.

Liam Manning as just left Huddersfield Town following taking some compassionate leave. Quite impressed the job he did at Bristol City, not so much at Norwich. Maybe he would be better in league one, ofc depends if hes looking to some time out of football for a bit.

I can't see him taking on a job like this in his situation.

    Quote

Manning added: "Stepping down from Huddersfield Town has been a difficult decision, but one I feel is best for the club, my family and myself at this time.

"It has been a privilege to manage this team and be a part of this community. I am grateful to the fans for their support and compassion in recent months."

Those are all fair options. I wouldn't be mad if we saw reports linking us with Challinor, Duff or Cleverly. Schreuder could be interesting, of the four you've listed he's by far the one with the riskier style of play. I agree, Fuchs doesn't have the pedigree on coaching merit alone, although he was Dean Smith's assistant manager at Charlotte FC for two years. I just can't help think that the cancer that's set in with this club is about low standards, and lack of grit and fight. Is there a manager who can come in on day one and really shake things up for the better? I do think Fuchs could do that, and that's why its an idea that has grown on me. I want us to win, but I also want to love this club again, and its hard when you see the junk effort being put out on the pitch and the lack of character from the squad. As a follow up: would you have a preference of one of those managers you've listed?

Cleverly might be on the list, with stowell being with him too.

  7. I think it’ll be Davies, if Birmingham decide to make a change. Soon as I saw his name ln the odds.

They will think, we know him, he got a team promoted and then established in the championship(spent lots of money).

Thats not me saying I want him. Just my gut feeling.

Its big club syndrome, if Vardy moved to Arsenal he would have got way more recognition, and probably would also have replaced Kane as England #1.

They should’ve found a way to play Kane and Vardy together.

Im not criticising I’m genuinely intrigued as to why. I’ve given mine up, and my thoughts and feeling are clear as to why.

But, it’s equally a sad indictment that fans who are renewing are mainly due to their kids, spending time with family, or because it’s something they’ve done forever.

No one has yet said, because they at this moment in time love watching us and love going to support the club.

Im merely gauging what the general mood is amongst renewing fans.

You aren’t wrong, there is also that slight hope that we’ll see good times again. It’s been a rollercoaster 35 years so far.

Or the bloke’s interest in management has completely disappeared and this was one last job (that’s been mentioned to me)

He mentioned getting into more strategy roles on the 2nd tier podcast.

I would think that Rowett is the fall-back option if a better candidate doesn't show up. They won't want to rule him out just yet and if the best they can attract is Darren fuching Ferguson then it's sensible.

Biggest issue I have with GR, is that he could've maybe been a bit braver.

We did improves in some statistics with him, like we had more shots and looked more likely to score goals. But in the end he failed, and got less PPG that Marti and thats damning, though it did seem less passive than Marti's team.

  12. Darren Ferguson is the name we are dropping in, so keeping Gazza or some other appointment doesn't seem as bad.

The longer we don't have a thank you Gary for your work, the more it makes me think he could be under consideration for the job.

Can’t get through to the ticket office this morning.

Must be all the demand 🤷🏻…..or they’ve got 2 people running the phone lines 😄

I was 2nd in line for about 15 minutes so you might be right.

  14. They are probably concocting some elaborate court case, because they got 6 point taken off them and because the naively didn't think we'd get relegated even if we had the points taken off they didn't take too much action at the time.

Nothing would surprise me and because of that ignore the situation we are in.

  15. I know I am asking for too much but, thi summer needs to be better in terms of communication.

    • Quickly let us know the fate of GR, as he's out of contract now, so unless he's under consideration to be the permanent manager say he's leaving. Its a different situation to RVN last year
    • Do the release list in terms of players.
    • Say that they are now in the process of interviewing managers, even if that does include GR
    • Acknowledge things are not right and just be honest and open with everyone.

I don't think any of the above will happen really, on at least not in a timely manner.

Lots of other things but the manager, and release list need to be sorted ASAP, the longer it goes on, the more likely I think we are to the Charlie Methven worst case scenario , than his best case scenario.
