  1. Newcastle need to keep this in the corner and kill the game.
  2. Ricardo - plays well, gets dropped. Makes sense.
  3. It’s been viewed as a major trophy again for some time, as the Man City have generally dominated for a while, so it was a chance for the others to grab some silverware. I hope Newcastle see this out, as I despise Liverpool. No doubt they’ll see it as tin pot when they don’t win.

So, what’s Trumps plan with Canada? Bully it? Invade it? Make everyone think he’s a tool?

  7. You’re right. It feels like he’s doubled down on the appointment by letting him stay as well. We've gone from being really poor, to totally ****, which is some achievement in all honesty.
  8. If you Go to the saints forum, it makes Foxestalk look largely positive!
  9. Surely it would be Leicester Fosse? Technically they don’t exist anymore so you could register a company in that name!
  10. Skipp is the criminal one for me. Ayew and Reid I sort of get as they’re cheap-ish relative to what we have. They’ve also both at least contributed something this season, despite stinking the place out for 75% of the time. Skipp was just an odd signing.

  13. I meant okay in relative ability to the league he’s playing in. A premier league football “should” be closer in ability to Messi than we are to a top league 2 player.
  14. The more you hear about the state of them off field, the more it appears they’re run about as well as us. Again though, a lot of what Ratcliffe says is correct. It’s cash flow that sinks businesses. If you haven’t got enough money and don’t want to dip into your own pockets to keep it afloat, they end up getting liquidated. I agree that the taxpayer shouldn’t be paying for the construction of a new stadium though. We’ve got more pressing issues to spend money on!
  15. He was okay last season, like many others were. The Premier League has a massive jump in quality and it’s widening. All promoted teams will go down again after amassing a massive points total last season.
  16. Rudkin and Top have a thread about them. RVN has quite a few about him. The state of the stadium and the will it / won’t it expansion has one. What we don’t have is one about the absolute honking state of our squad. If you’re struggling with finances, literally trim it to the bare bones and get rid of the players either on whatever we can or free transfers, then back fill the spaces with the next generation of talent. Why we’ve turned bids down for the likes of Iversen when he doesn’t get a look in is just bizarre. The match day squad is 20 players, we don’t need a 4th choice goalkeeper pulling half a million a year in wages. 4 x Goalkeepers Hermansen, Stolarkzyk, Ward, Iversen. We need 2 and a youth player can be third choice. We can loan an emergency if it fails outside the window! We’d be saving well over £1m a year in wages on keepers alone if we cut it to two. 11 x Defenders Ricardo, Justin, Coulibaly, Faes, Vestergaard, Nelson, Coady, Souttar, Okoli, Thomas, Kristiansen. Again, work on the logic that two for every position, then we need eight. Why we had two right backs and then signed a third who looks equally as inept at defending is nuts. I know technically Souttar and Nelson are on loan, however in on our dire financial state, if we can’t sell players, just use what you’ve got rather than adding to the financial burden. Oxford and Sheffield United aren’t covering full wages for our players. We’d save £7 - £9 million here per season just by cutting our cloth accordingly. 13 x Midfielders Winks, Skipp, Ndidi, Soumare, Fatawu, Reid, Ayew, El Khannous, McAteer, Buonanotte, Choudhury, Alves and Braybrooke. That list of players, does lack that extra ability when compared to other Premier League teams. If we’re playing a 5 man midfield (including the wingers if you like), then why do we have so many centrally based players? It’s imbalanced. Including Braybrooke and Alves may be a little harsh, however one should be getting first team minutes with us this season. That’s before you get into including the likes of Evans, Cover, Monga, Cartwright, Thomas etc We should be running with 10 players and you’d cut another £8m - £10m off the wage bill per year here. 3 x Strikers Vardy, Daka, Edouard We’ve typically played one. If you’re in a financial mess, you don’t sign an Edouard on loan to put him on the shelf just in case you need him. Use a bloody youth player, they’ll have contributed to the the overall points tally as much as he has this season so far. Just make Evans the third choice. Strikers are expensive so we’d be saving another £4m - £5m per season here by cutting it down one. I know this is written in hindsight but when you’re financially challenged, trimming a bloated squad simply saves £20m - £25m per season based on fag packet math. £75m over the course of a PSR period. Maybe I’m looking at it too simplistic but at the same time we’d also be blooding and generating talent to sell.
  17. I think the plan was to sell Souttar. I think he’s fairly solid and I’d have used him this season. However he’s never really got a look in under successive head coaches. Again though, when you consider we had Evans, Soyuncu, Amartey, Faes, Nelson and Vestergaard at the club when we signed him, you’ve got to be questioning our recruitment policy. That January was honking. We needed a bloody decent goalkeeper, not a centre back.

Is Trump trying to create an enemy of Europe here? If we keep slapping import taxes on each other, then we may as well come up with a long term plan of insourcing some of the technology and prepare for a good war with the USA. We’ll be sandwiched between them and the Russian States if we’re not careful.

  20. Did he ever have them?
  21. I’ve no issue with the 64 teams really. It means more football. It’ll be spaced out and multiple matches can be played at the same time. What I have beef with is that the US had a World Cup in 1994 and we’ve still not had now solely for the United Kingdom.
  22. I know I’m way behind but my wife / daughter have been watching Riverdale. Which has also turned into me watching Riverdale. What have I reduced myself to?

I think the old British Steel is Chinese owned as well from memory. I know steel was once one of the bedrock industries for Great Britain, however I’m assuming it declined when we basically started to go toward being a country of mass distribution centres!
