Leicester 'could face points deduction next season'
Aus Fox replied to ClaphamFox's topic in Leicester City Forum
Coady was absolutely the leadership we needed, on and off the field - we have never replaced the lost leadership of Kasper, Fuchs, Huth, Morgan etc. He may have been slightly over the odds, but was absolutely the first player the team needed. Unfortunately, he picked up an injury early on and Vestergaard took his chance, same situation we would absolutely do the same deal again. Cannon is the type of signing we should be making, young hungry with bags of potential- again all transfers were brought in for less than we sold Madders and we also sold Barnes, Castagne and Hirst to ensure we we’re massively in profit this summer and the wage bill was also vastly reduced -

Andy King is the greatest person in the history of football. We love him and our hopefully it’s his last minute own goal that secures us another 3 points, before the EFL takes away those points! -

There is no such thing as an established Premier League team outside the top 6. We’re evidence of that, outside the big money everyone is a bad transfer window or manager appointment from relegation. -

Hold on a minute, spunked money? If I’m not mistake, all of our arrivals combined cost less than what we sold James Maddison for, we then sold Barnes and Castagne on top of that, as well as losing at least 9 first team players - we needed to replace them! We didn’t really spunk any money, and I would argue this was our best summer transfer window in a long time. This is coming on the back of the previous summer where we sold Fofana for huge money and only brought in Faes for a small fraction of what we received. Add to this a huge reduction this season in our wage bill and I actually think for the last 2 seasons we’ve been pretty financially responsible in terms of transfer fees paid out vs received. -

An interesting thought I had today and not sure if it’s been mentioned or discussed before, but what would the land at Belvoir Drive be worth? Surely moving the women to Seagrave and selling the land would bring something in as well as reducing operating costs? -
Yes he holds a role where we assume he oversees player recruitment, team strategy, club philosophy, contract negotiations, youth development, sporting infrastructure etc And yes largely out problems largely come down to overseas player recruitment, team strategy, club philosophy, contract negotiations, youth development and sporting infrastructure but I don’t really get why some people don’t think he’s doing a great job.

The problem is much deeper than this I’m afraid, we didn’t necessarily sit on our hands, more had them tied behind our back. Now, to get into a position where our hands were tied came about because of some poor signings and gambling to join that top 6/7 on a more permanent basis and ultimately failing. We made massive mistakes along the way, and as we tried to dig our way out of it, we made more and more mistakes. Prime example of this was letting Kasper go, I believe he was among the highest earners at the club, so it brought our wage bill down significantly- the problem was then we didn’t have the on-field quality to replace him and I think failed to understand his impact off the field. We had big earning players who were either injured or frozen out by the manager. Looking from the outside, and with no real evidence of this other than what I see, hear and read - since we lost Vichai, there is no long term plan for the club. We seem to go from season to season making individual decisions, not looking at the implications long term, from signings, to communication, to offfield decision that have upset some loyal fans, we’re bouncing around with out a map hoping to fall into our destination. One thing I’ll be really critical off the club for is there inability to get rid of the dead wood - this has been a problem for a long time and transcends managers, hinting at the problem being higher up. Our club in the last 20 odd years has done it all, promotion, relegation, cup finals, highest highs lowest lows, we’ve built amazing squads and seen some of the greatest players in our clubs history on the field. I hope despite all the finances and the like we’ve been able to enjoy the LCFC journey.

After the international break Southampton are going to have to fit 10 games into 6 weeks. They are going to be at 2 games a week for the rest of the season pretty much, it’s already tiring legs, and still having to play 6 of the top 10. I think, with them already 8 points behind Ipswich, it almost end their chance of autos.
-
Those maximums need slightly adjusting as they all can’t get that with Southampton still having to play all three teams, someone has to drop points along the way.

Fa Cup win trumps finishing 4th in the Premier League every time! On the promotion question, it’s sad but if we don’t go up this season, we could be in a mess financially, so it has to be promotion right now. We all watch football to see our club win things at the end of the day and that’s what’s more important. I would, however, take finishing 3rd and risk the playoffs and win the fa cup over finishing top 2!
-
After the international break we have a 100% record this season against the 9 teams we have left to play. Honestly, I think we’ll go close to that again and easily run home with it now.

To be fair 14 goals conceded in 11 games isn’t horrendously bad, especially when you’re the leagues top scorers. I hate the calling of what Ipswich are doing lucky, they’re not lucky - lucky is a once off occurrence - like one game the opponent had a goal wrongfully disallowed and you got lucky. When the same thing happens over and over again it is certainly not luck. Over 36 games Ipswich are the second best team in the division, they’re where they are deservedly, we are deservingly Top and Leeds are 3rd. There is still 10 games to go and at the end of those 10 games everyone will be where they are on merit and merit alone
-
Even crazier is Ipswich could get 200 points across 2 seasons and not win a league title in that time.

Here’s Wilf!

It’s a contact sport FFS
-
This ref really hasn’t helped the game, blows the whistle any time two players are anywhere close to each other. Stops any rhythm in the game.
-
Yeah, doing reasonably well too, not setting the world on fire but steady
-
Well the whole city is one big crack den, so probably.
-
To be fair, Leeds and Ipswich both have pretty routine games at home against poor sides. We’ve just got to take care of our business.
-
The state of officiating in this division is beyond a joke. Every single week, it’s just bizarre and ridiculous decisions costing teams games.
-
FFS there’s no foul there! That’s a perfectly good goal!
-
For the next 11 games, it’s doesn’t have to be impressive! We just need results.
-
Missing the two of them together is a real struggle, we have a system that Enzo wants to play and so much of our attacking threat starts with Vestergaard and Ricardo - miss one and we struggle, miss both and we get what was served up on Saturday. We almost got the perfect game now to play, away from home against an out of form team. Let’s hope we can get the win tonight and on the weekend, before we can reset after the break.
