The Saffers are the inverse SH counterpart of Ireland for the NH: underperform in local championships, but then always bring their best to a World Cup.

No. Too much realpolitik, not enough trousers. But it would be nice.
-
Of course it is. Did any other manager nearly put the club out of existence? No? That's pretty much it, then.
-
It isn't just the UK onboard that particular vessel and far too many of the many captains involved fail to understand that the true iceberg is even there, or that it even exists.

There is no reason for a party with a current working majority of 170+ to call an election until they are legally obliged to do so, unless they have rebellions from within their own party to the degree that they can no longer pass legislation in Parliament. That being said, 2029 will still be a crunch time and speaking personally I still haven't heard of any idea exactly why at least some folks appear to actively want the "Years and Years" timeline, but with added crop pressures due to changing weather patterns popping up even sooner for additional entertainment. Lammy did everyone a disservice by not sticking to his guns regarding members of the current US administration. Perhaps the new person will treat them more like the highly potential belligerent they are.

Honestly, having seen what populist movements have done and are doing in terms of damage around the world, I'm always going to take Farage and who he leads with utmost seriousness.
-
Thing is though, that alone is enough to cause enough damage to be very, very meaningful.
-
Don't worry, if things play out the way they might, accountability will come in the form of a rather large mob screaming "who killed the world?"
-
Of course. The policies of the current US administration are the policies Farage wants here, that is obvious. With all the consequences and responsibility for those consequences that entails.
-
... and is there any reason why Snake Oil Nige thinks there's going to be an election any earlier than 2029?
-
Repeated for emphasis at this time.

You're right. "Fvck Reform, selfish death-worshippers" should be the current turn of phrase. (Though I know that doesn't roll off the tongue.)
-
I can see the arguments here. Tbh as time goes by I become less choosy about the nature of the unifying factor too, because time is running out and the simple fact is that we need one, any one.
-
No, I don't believe that, and given the massive and disproportionate body of evidence of discrimination and abuse, both institutional and everyday, past and present towards people of that demographic, I'm not sure why anyone would. It's incredibly disingenuous and hypocritical to dismiss it as a "few bad apples" as it appears here. However, this is both a subjective issue and one on which I know my own viewpoints aren't impartial, so IMO folks are welcome to think that way and I will simply disagree.

I thought this a while back too, because it's clear as you say that it's far too easy for that kind of power to both corrupt and attract the corruptible. Thing is though, as the present time shows, coordinating necessary action on a global level then becomes bloody difficult. There's simply too much self interest and not enough people willing to see and act upon the long game, and in the end that hurts everyone, including them. Somehow, someway, on at least some matters global consensus regardless of nation states needs to be reached and acted upon by all of them. Whether that's through enforcement or fluffy agreement is of little consequence, what matters is that it must be done, or the consequences will be truly dire.

So it seems. I guess the only pleasure will be when the shit hits the fan to hopefully have the time to say "told you so".

This is written as if trans people didn't come in for any kind of discrimination, or abuse, or even violence and death, before the "activists" were responsible for the "backlash". So we're assuming that people without bigotry towards the LGBT community and trans people in particular, and with the motivation to act on that sentiment, aren't relevant and/or don't exist and never have? Still, I guess other minority groups would recognise that argument. "Oh yeah, I want them to live their lives, but that Malcolm X/those Stonewall rioters kick up such a fuss so you can understand people giving something back in return..."
-
Agreed, so see above re. fun times.
-
Maybe so. Elsewhere it's much more "go big or go home" in terms of such things than in the UK.
-
Could say the same about East Asia, as well. Their white collar crime goes full-throttle.
-
Did get something of a grilling from the Senate committee, which was good. Of course, the ideas he's pushing are still gaining traction among the populace, which is bad.
-
I'm just going to go with the sentiment I expressed above and leave it at that tbh.
-
And, to add to comments that have been seen elsewhere, it would be nice if people could treat every other human being as... well, exactly that and not go in for these ridiculous divisions and generalisations based on demographic rather than deed.

If it's proven in a court of law, absolutely. Equality under the law. However I would take issue with any inference that those are a bigger problem than the abuse and threats that trans people have to deal with (unless such a thing is categorically and empirically provable, which I doubt). Additionally, I'm not sure if there is a distinction towards abuse directed as a person because of what they do, and abuse directed at a person because of what they are, which is the case here. Edit: toned down the tone a bit.
