Good practice for the winter tbh. You can bet the Aussies will be all like that and more. This team need to be ready for that kind of stuff. -

There's no spectacle quite like a Test match with a grandstand finish and a bit of needle. -
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c8j1k3k44e2o A child has died at Liverpool's Alder Hey Children's Hospital after contracting measles, the BBC understands. There has been a surge in children being taken to the hospital after becoming seriously unwell with the highly contagious virus. Alder Hey said it would not officially comment on individual cases to respect patient confidentiality but the death has been confirmed to the BBC. No details have been released about whether the child was being treated for other health problems or their vaccination status. Well, that's horrible.

This is the big question. It's reasonably evident that Crawley is (most of the time) a liability, but that only matters if there's someone for the same position out there who is provably less so. -
They did and it does, because it's not really nice to see what smallpox, polio, measles, tetanus or rabies, to speak for only a few, does to a human being.

Just a smidgen of hypocrisy there. Not sure what the over/under is for this one. 250ish? -

Wow, another one-innings shootout then. This one over slightly shorter time and with England batting first. -

Lords crowd in being too quiet and genial shocker, apparently. -

Bloody hell, what was that said earlier about luck? Deep having his fair share of it now too. -

I do remember there was a spell early on in the England innings that was similar. Rather expect India to get a lead from here. -

Lots of the bat being beaten with no edges, I think. Mind you, someone could say that's able batting judgement rather than luck. -

How have they not been anything out yet? The amount of luck they've had since the new ball was taken its unreal. -

Lack of a quality spinner becoming all too apparent now. -

Two interruptions already today. Edit: not sure if Pant is crossing the line into proper gamesmanship here. -
No disagreement there at all, I hope that Draper can make a name for himself and it's not too late for him to do so. I do appreciate and admire the skill and manner when it comes to top level players like Alcaraz, but I see a difference between that and being a "fan" (as it were) of them.
-
Don't get me wrong, if it's a straight choice between the two, it's Alcaraz every time. Sinner is everything unlikeable described here. I guess my feelings are more just "meh" than anything else - there's nothing to dislike about Alcaraz, but I don't see much reason for me to personally to be a fan of him either. Tbh parochialism comes into it a fair bit - I wasn't really a fan of Federer or Nadal for the same reason, I appreciated their talent (as I do with Alcaraz) but if I'm going to be a fan of a tennis player, 99% of the time they're going to be British. (Which means I'm going to be disappointed 99% of the time too. )

A fact for which I'm sure almost all of us are glad. And I'm also sure that the vast majority of people wouldn't want the fuzz to start down that road, which is why such intense scrutiny is so important.

Nah, I wasn't singling out your post in particular, just talking about the general flow of the thread. It's certainly a really fraught topic as it goes into the very basis of the theory and practice of justice. I stand by my own take on the topic, but I'm not going to say that other takes are wrong.
-
I don't find either of them likeable tbh. Not great that they seem set to dominate for a while now.
